Not just any Bourgogne here, this is from Domaine Berlancourt and drinks miles above its simple appellation status. For 2011 the density and clarity in this are very surprising, not to mention the depth and tension. The nose shows plenty of oak upfront that over the course of a few hours mellows out, evening out with thewhite florals, minerality, deep citrus and juicy apple notes. Just a baby, this will go several more years easy. Definitely some California characteristics. Med + concentration with a yellow core. Med + intensity and complexity showing power and ripeness. Corn, vanilla, ripe orchard fruit, chervil, cotton candy, hay, spices, and caramel. The palate had a firm structure with med + acid and abv showing great tension with some bitterness. The complexity was med + but wound up and compact. The balance seemed a little disjointed and the finish a bit awkward.
