This Zin is at it’s peak. From a fellow ZAP volunteer photographer’s vineyard Barry grew great grapes. — 3 years ago

Meyer lemon, apple, and a touch of grass. A zap of acidity giving way to a surprising buttery body. — 4 years ago
Serious Rose. Pours clear, dark salmon color. Dried strawberry and saline aromas. Medium plus body and acidity. Wild red berries zap the back sides of your tongue, while minerals zip straight down the middle. Clean lasting finish, repeating the nose and palate, leaving your palate refreshed and ready for another sip. — 8 months ago
Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the gothest of them all? It’s either me or this wine. In spirit and/or taste. Dark on the outside perfumed inside. Lives up to being bone dry, if bones can live. Smells like raspberries and pomegranate molasses. with a hint of mint. So light in the mouth, which given its color is a surprise. Then again get one of us mildly goths to open up and we crack a smile. The better to show our custom fangs by my darling. Oh yes so on the palate it treads lightly in weight. Underripe cherries and roses and electricity or is that just the friendly acid giving me a love-zap? — 3 years ago
Tangy, zippy, crisp, zap! Sparkling spring water with a tiny buzz. Hard to believe this can get me tipsy. Feels like drinking kombucha. I feel healthy AF drinking it! Hopefully good for my gut! Yeah! — 3 years ago
2018 opened November 2021.
This is a wine that benefits from a long breathing time—but even an hour after decanting this wine stays aloof. It is what it is, and it’s not looking for your friendship. So, this is not a beginners wine. Don’t serve it to the hoi polloi. Hoard it, and reserve it for your pleasure and the pleasure of those who can appreciate it. ;-)
As for my tasting notes… Sage and a bit of eucalyptus on the nose. Intense red fruit on the front that reminds me of ripe red cherries, cassis, and the taste of red lipstick on a sensual kiss. It has an amazingly complex tannic structure. Wait, did I say tannic? I meant it has an amazing Tantric structure! It’s not ploddingly heavy like most of the cabs from Napa. The tannins have a gentle touch, but a lot of underlying muscle that will massage your tongue. The mid pallet is full of fruit and mineral high notes—plus bunch of impressions I can’t describe. It has a long finish that rings like a bell as it fades—and you can still imagine it ringing after the song is gone— but for full disclosure it also yields a sharp zap of bitterness at the end. This is a wine that demands your respect. And it will reject any silly sentimental love notes that you send it.
Frigging awesome wine!
If you’re not on the Quilceda Creek mailing list, get on it! Theres’s a waiting list backlog. I can see why!

Very fresh, lively, primarily redfruited aromas and flavors, some spicy notes as well, super nicely balanced, great acid, shows admirable restraint, should age nicely midterm (5-10 years?), very good “entry level” Zinfandel, long finish!! I’d read that the 2023 Zins, grown in a relatively cooler year, had a very long growing season, with excellent acidity, and I’d say this shows all of those characteristics. Morgan nailed this, it was great to finally meet his “adult” version, my wife and I first met him about 35 years ago at a ZAP event at Ravenswood hosted by his father Joel. — a month ago
