This is my third and youngest encounter with this elusive Y, and as always it is tastes like the epitome of hedonism. I had to take a moment alone with the wine just to acknowledge that, those who truly love wine, will know exactly what I’m talking about. The predominant flavours on this wine are orange marmalade, orange peel, and fresh tangerine… All working in unison on the palate, no single element ever outshining another. Creating harmony. — 9 months ago
I thought it edged out the LC19 on this occasion. The LC20 was just more expressive at this stage - more lifted with clearer fruit and floral characters, while similarly taut and chalky. Having said that, the differences were clearly marginal. So much so that by the end of lunch, the LC19 and LC20 were practically indistinguishable. Truly great bones here. A lovely reminder that great producers nail it year in, year out. — 5 months ago
with Chichi at Los Caracoles in Barcelona. Great Rioja with dried red fruits on palate; long finish; full bodied. Tertiary flavours like leather, tobacco and some smokiness develop after decanting for a while. Paired with grilled chicken; white tuna tomato salad; smoked sardine; fish soup for lunch. SO DAMN GOOD — 2 years ago
What a spectacular way to start our annual Boys Lunch in SF. Pristine magnum of ‘96 with toasted brioche aromas and a rich, complex palate. The golden color was remarkable. It was even better as it warmed up. What a joy! — 2 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2021 "Amador County" pours a slightly hazy, pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose the wine is developing with notes of lemons, chamomile, lanolin, lime blossom, and ferrous minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium++ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finish is long and loaded with minerals. Balanced and ever so fresh. This was a killer accompaniment with our Friendsgiving lunch in the office and worked well with turkey. Drinking now through 2031. Only two 500L puncheons produced. — 6 months ago
Conrad Green
Classic lunch bags. Inky sour cherry and stony grippy fruit. Really straight down the line bordeaux. Classic. — 3 months ago
