N: Like a walk in the woods. In 10 yrs, oh my. Morello cherries, paste( like cherry paste) tree bark and some tar.
P: Really nice puckering tannins, w a braise, would be great. We did Ligurian walnut sauce. Great depth w/o being heavy, some pepper, deep dark red fruits, woody notes. Delish. — 2 months ago
Very fruity aroma. Complex and fun! Woody blackberry, gooseberry and canned black olive flavors. Solid acidic backbone. Excellent color like red plum flesh. — 2 years ago
Fruity with some woody favors. Love the combination — 2 years ago
Mid to deep Ruby in colour with a tawny rim developing. Cassis and black currant with some woody and sage notes. On the palate sweet black fruits, plummy notes, some savouriness and oak spice. Good vitality and freshness for a 14 year old Cabernet Shiraz. Really enjoyed this - up there in quality with another great Cabernet Shiraz in Penfolds Bin 389. This wine will cruise through another 10 years with its inner strength I feel. — 3 years ago
Ruby with red fruit aromas and herb floral scents. On the palate flavors of sour cherry & dried berries, cinnamon, licorice, tar and herb notes. Full fine tannins bring fruit to long finish ending with woody earthy mineral character. Wonderful! Great now, will age! — 10 months ago
A lot going on with this bargain! Try on Day 2: ripe blackberry jam, sweet woody spices and black olive on the nose; medium bodied, med+ acidity, bright cherry vanilla and savory/gamey finish. — a year ago
Last ‘16, lost luster but still ok. Fruit for this Pinot comes from 2 of the coolest, most coastal parts of this appellation, linked by the influence of the Pacific’s cool marine air, which delays ripening. Ruby with berry fruit, citrus and floral spice. On the palate, strawberry and cherry with cedar notes and earthy tones. Balanced acidity, soft tannins, medium+ finish ending with tobacco and woody spice. Nice, drink now. — 2 years ago
Fantastic wine with smooth oaky undercurrents. Initial fruit forward with the woody oak middle and jammy finish. More fruit forward than vina tondonia reserve albeit younger. — 10 months ago
Last night we enjoyed the 2017 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. From Healdsburg, California, a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and small portions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
On the nose is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, cassis, herbaceous and graphite.
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, cassis, some herbaceousness, a bit of chocolate, a bit woody and earth.
This is a beautiful winee that is medium + to full bodied and a smooth mouthfeel, medium to medium + acidity and medium + firm sandy mouthcoating tannins that moves easily into a long black fruit graphite earthy finish. Here it is the end of a wonderful weekend and I hope everyone's weekend was one of joy and happiness. The week ahead is upon us so please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — a year ago
