Redemption for a underperforming bottle from our last go at this 1992. If you're buying old wine and didn't anticipate bottle variation, you need to know that's just part of the game. This bottle is fantastic.
(Enjoying alongside the '88 again today, no slouch on that bottle!)
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading Sarah KIRKLAND SNIDER (Forward into Light; BSO Premiere), PROKOFIEV (Violin Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, Opus 63) and DVOŘÁK (Symphony No. 7 in D Minor, Opus 70).
Our soloist today Augustin Hadelich rounds out the program with Prokofiev’s intense Violin Concerto No. 2, and Andris Nelsons leads the BSO in Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 – sometimes called the composer's greatest symphony. — 2 years ago

So the cork was a bish and a half to remove, but the wine was so delicious. Does have a Granny Smith Apple vibe, crisp and sweet. — 9 years ago

Amazing. Sip with Milton Kern — 9 years ago
A phenomenal vintage for FWG! Amazingly pale for its age, with a very finely honeyed nose of apricot blossom, white rose petals, and lime leaves. Fabulous acidity and amazing freshness. Only delicately sweet; perhaps some has dropped off with age. The perfect start to the meal! — 9 years ago
If a wine does not meet your (high) expectations, is it a disappointment?? 🤔. Yeah, everything is relative. This six year old Gran Malbec was still super tight. Sharp, spicy oak tannins (lots of new French oak?) kept anything possibly underneath totally hidden. Although some greener notes came through early on and again later after about 2-3 hours of opening. So, yeah. Not balanced, very intense, limited lingering and single note. Agung will help for sure but not confident if this wine will ever fully shine. But don’t be down on Pulenta. Fantastic winery. We will visit this fall (their Spring) as Spoken Wines. Talking about Spoken Wines, have you seen our latest video story of Hartenberg?? And their incredible commitment to regenerative viticulture, lead by… cows!! Beautifully explained and demonstrated right in front of you by Wilhelm Joubert, the viticulturist. Check it out. And don’t miss the surprise at the end 😁. www.spokenwines.com — 2 years ago

Another underrated region for Pinot Noir, though may not be for long. Climate change may for this persnickety varietal to take refuge in the high altitude cool vineyards of the Aalto Adige. Certainly checks all the right boxes for Pinot. Light bodied, med alcohol, high acidity, bright fruit, elegance. — 5 months ago
