Really incredible wine. Not paired with any food, the wine is flavorful, quenching w/ oak flavor adding the right dryness and notes of plum & vanilla to finish - really well balanced and opened well. Bottled was empty far too quickly : ) — 5 years ago
Weekly Wednesday Wine Committee. Incredible hosting by Joe. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine, all tasted blind.
Bonus wines. I’ve heard of this and was happy to try. Bibiana from Wayfarer and Jeff Pisoni joint project. Bigger style SB, definitely done in the Bordeaux style. Good amount of semillon to round the edges out. High acidity. Lemon and lime tart, lychee, limestone and saline notes. Oak isn’t as powerful as Aesthete or other notable bigger style Cali SBs, but it’s certainly as flavor packed. Wish I could enjoy one of these stand alone to see how it evolves. — 7 years ago
Pinot Noir has never been my favorite variety, but on a trip to Napa in 2007 I had the pleasure of tasting this bottle (I want to say it was their 2004 vintage). It changed my outlook on what a California Pinot can taste like. Pahlmeyer is truly bringing Old World Burgundy to the West. The only reason this it not 5 star is I've sampled their Wayfarer single vineyard Pinot's that are mind blowing! Find this wine, let it open, and cherish it's amazing nectar. Cheers! — 11 years ago

Oak is taking over. Quite dull next to the Wayfarer — 3 years ago
Other than Wayfarer Pinot noir, Occidental is hands down the Rolls Royce of Pinots. Full flavor, robust, and very exotic. It’s a perfect gift to give for someone who loves their Pinot noirs. Get them while you can because wine shops do not sell these by the case. At an average of $65-$70 per bottle, it’s a premium but their quality is unique and hard to find. You won’t be disappointed. — 8 years ago
