Deep purple in color with a wide reddish rim.

Beautiful nose of sweet cherries, black plums, blueberries, Indian spices, cedar, licorice, chocolates, herbs, light earth, black pepper, tobacco and light black tea.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with cooked cherries, currants, plums, spices, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth, dark chocolates and black coffee.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This delicious 8-year-old Merlot from Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and fruit forward. Soft and complex.

Needs an hour in the decanter to open up properly and show the complexity. Will continue to age nicely in the next few years.

Nicely balanced and spicy with a soft mouthfeel. I had this vintage a few times before, and it is always tasty.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and paired nicely with the Italian beef Prosciutto.

A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

2021 vintage. A bit of everything. Esteemed producer. Excellent nose. Front-palate richness. Mid-palate power and presence. Pleasantly astringent and beyond substantial finish. I usually eschew Barbera d'Alba for the resto list but couldn't deny this one. Picked up two cases and may pick up more to have laying around for 1.5-2 years. This is flagship Cabernet Sauvignon from Alta Nova Vinyards in Napa Valley, CA. a masterpiece from a female winemaker, Britt Richards who has the finesse of vinifying wines from myriad California terroirs (mostly mountains). Electrifying aromas of black forrest, leaves, earth and graphite. It makes an opening to the palate with punchy tannins, elevated but not overpowering acidity and silky, very silky tannins. Polyphenols are super-balanced, it can challenge any mountain-like heavy Cab from Napa as a great contender. Loved the elegant finish. Needs to open for over 2 hours to appreciate its potential and savory notes.
