Tracy Hills, Central Valley

Melville

Estate Sta. Rita Hills Syrah 2018

Opaque ruby color with a thin garnet rim. Aromas of forest floor, bacon fat, fresh rosemary and mint, wet soil and black fruit. Flavors of black olive tapenade, tobacco, smoked meat, red, blue and black berries and roasted herbs. Hint of black pepper and salt on the long (a pleasantly sour) finish. Soft tannins and very bright acidity. Medium bodied and incredibly savory. Nicely aged and concentrated. Very interesting and unique expression of the varietal. — 13 hours ago

This was awesome! Lovely darkish gold color. Aged apples to start then popcorn and subtle butter with more air. Very deep, thick wine. Well balanced and refined. — 2 months ago

Foxen

John Sebastiano Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

2021 vintage. Medium body. Plenty of earthiness and frontal fruity chunk that both set the tone and hung out all day. Foundation good but back-end finish, while definitely there, lacking the oomph that other vintage/versions have thrust out there. Vineyard getting replanted currently and will be completely out of the Foxen pantheon in the near future. Other (SRH) vineyards stepping up and in. 09.03.25. — 2 months ago
