Deep, dark ruby coloration. Almost black. No translucency. Heavy tearing. On the nose, dark cherry, blueberry, blackberry, currant, tobacco, forest floor and florals. On the palate, full body, lush mouth feel, strong minerality, with jammy black currant, anise, pepper, followed by a long finish of chocolate, forever, and hints of mint. Nicely balanced tannins. Outstanding wine. — 22 days ago
Ultra sweet nose, concentrated aromatics, focused and tannic, still. Gentle finish but tons of length. Meditation wine or light fare. — a month ago
+1 hour decant(lots of sediment). A gorgeous dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: very aeromatic nose of dark cherry, black olives, tobacco, toasty oak, eucalyptus, roasted meat, milk chocolate. Taste: deep, rich, silky, creamy wine with dark plum, bitter coffee grounds, earth, licorice, new leather, graphite, dried herbs, pepper, and a medium plus finish. YUM! — 2 months ago
Drinking in 2025. Has aged well. Beautiful and fragrant nose of dark cherries, tobacco, snd vanilla followed by spices and hints of herbs on the palate. Time has no doubt mellowed the tannins and transitions to a longish smooth finish. Acidity still present and will continue to age well. Suspect lower ratings reflect people drinking this wine young. — 8 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours and this gained momentum as the minutes rolled by. The 2016 “San Valentino” pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe black and red fruits: black berries, black plum, Morello cherry, spiced meat, old wood, varnish, cumin and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, tangy and slightly savory. These are showing very well at this stage and I don’t expect that to change for many years to come. Drink now with patience (perhaps even a 30min decant) and through 2036. — a month ago

At an Italian Restaurant on the Gold Coast having a nice pasta dish of Rigatoni with Lamb Shoulder. This wine by San Guido where their top Cuvée is the famous Sassicaia. This wine is 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Oak maturation is well balanced using a combination of new and used oak. The nose shows obvious Cabernet traits and shows again how suitable Bolgheri is to Bordeaux blends - plummy notes. A good match with the dish. A dry finish. — 12 days ago
