Arbois Traminer 2016

100% Savagnin made in ouillé style (topped up, non oxidized). In fact, this is Tissot’s only Savagnin ouillé, as most of their Savagnin grapes go towards the production of Vin Jaune (aged under flor, without topping-up). Complex, mineral, very tasty. Long, saline finish — 4 years ago

I haven’t tried a bad ‘petits Monts’ Drouhin may be the best but lookout for mugneret too. I need to try to Louis latour just to see if they’re on point as well

@Alex Lallos completely agree on Mugneret. Incredible depth and completeness there.

D.D. Arbois Poulsard Blend 2023

All of the varietals come through but ultimately this is defined by its Pinot Noir polish and elegance. Light-bodied but with lively complexity of red fruit, spice and mineral. — 7 months ago

Surprise! Was poked in 2016 and it’s still drinking nicely. Lean more muscular but interesting profile of Pinot that mashes you think about it — 7 months ago

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2020

Nice wine for $20. Cherry fruit and some healthy tannins, but relatively light. Nice with turkey; would be good with a lot of foods — 3 years ago

Les Bruyères Chardonnay 2017

Surprisingly precotious, with aromas of hazelnuts and drying fruit. A sense of oak with a little hint of vanilla, perhaps telling of a bit of new oak in the mix. Quite big bodied, high acidity and a smooth texture. Two years on the lees, long finish. — 4 years ago

Sous la Tour Pinot Noir 2016

Boldly and marvelously fragrant, with ripe cherry, blackberries, almond paste, cinnamon stick, and hints of cloves, spicy mint, and warm tires on the nose. Dark cherry, juicy plum, raspberry on the palate with notes of milk chocolate giving way to sharp scratchy mint-tea tannins and a hint of bacon fat emerging with black peppercorns on a long finish. Very well done and interesting. Excellent value — 6 years ago

The bacon fat sounds more like Syrah than Pinot, but a brilliant list of descriptors

Bénedicte & Stéphane Tissot En Spois Vin Jaune Arbois Savagnin 2014

Clean, precise Vin Jaune (100% Savagnin wine, aged under a veil of flor for 6 years and 3 months), from a plot in the village of Menétru-Le-Vignoble, on clay soils. Farmed biodynamically, like all other plots. Pale yellow. Complex nose, reminiscent of a Fino, with aromas of yeast and some subtle spicy notes. Elegant, saline, easy to drink — 5 years ago
