Applejack Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

Wow, an elegant and delightful taste. Good enough to drink on its own. — 14 days ago

Giant Steps

Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2023

A very nice, cool climate, reductive Chardonnay
Toasted sesame & cool mint on the nose. Beautiful mouthfeel, balanced, elegant with juicy acidity. The yellow stone fruit restrained but of high purity. Nice depth here.
This is so drinkable and quite lovely while showing some hints of seriousness.

Three Palms Vineyard Merlot 2021

Delicious, full bodied, semi-sweet, paired wonderfully with a fatty Wagyu steak. Duckhorn is known for their Merlots for a reason. — 2 months ago

Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

My last bottle in the cellar but first Delectable note for this vintage. A good balance of quality ripe grapes with the savoury peppery tannins from use of whole bunch in the ferment. — a month ago

Eighteen Seventy-Three Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Dark dark ruby color, very intense. Great yeast nose with crisp berry fruit flavor. The tannins are well balanced and enjoyable. Paired it with a marinated ribeye and baked potato. — 25 days ago

I used to buy Three’s CCC bottlings of Zin and Rhône varietals a lot around 10 years ago but stopped because I started getting tired of the 15+ alc levels. Other wineries source the wonderful sandy old vineyards there too but pick a tad earlier. (Although some like Sandlands pick a little earlier than I’d prefer.) it’s not that I didn’t like the Three versions but that I like the others better.

@Tom Casagrande, I totally hear you on the ABV, this one hid it well, but as it’s a 2019 and showed a fair amount of maturity, I intend to drink my other bottles before the fruit drops too much more!
