This is a great tipple as the weather cools down in the Southern Hemisphere. From Islay with plenty of peat and smokiness. A maritime seaweed note. Some say Laphroaig is even more peaty but for me, the jury is still out on that one. — 6 days ago

Son’s birthday so pulled out something special. While I think the hype on this is over the top, I managed to get a bottle from Australia so that mitigated some of the craziness. It’s really delicious. Not over powered like many of the cask strength bottles now. Sweet,approachable and his choice over the scotch — a month ago
The nose is fantastic. A butterscotch/caramel that is just so inviting. It’s not think though on the palate. Might even argue it’s thin.

Super rich and decadent with a wave of dark stewed fruits like plums, cherries and strawberries. It’s incredibly fruit forward, but not too sweet. There’s a background of black strap molasses and strong maltiness. Incredibly balanced for such a flavorful dram. A phenomenon winter whisky. — 14 days ago
