Tardieu Laurent

Vieilles Vignes Vacqueyras Red Rhone Blend 2017

Ruby red color with a watery rim. Hint of large game blood, wet earth, and fresh dark cherries on the scent. Ripe dark fruit up front, sweet almost; followed by stern tannings and a dry finish. A young wine, medium body, almost light alcohol but with lots of character yet easy drinking. Unassuming wine, extremely enjoyable. One of those, great all-around, Southern Rhône blends... — 24 days ago

I’m not surprised coming from this producer, @Éric Núñez. I expect that this will further improve with age. Your thoughts?

Agree Ron. Will improve with age but taste good now as well. I’m torn between saving it and immoderate gratification.

Ausstich St. Laurent

Nice and balanced St Laurent - a great choice on the Austrian market. Make a mental note for this one. — 13 days ago

Laurent Ponsot

'Cuvee du Saule' Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

The first of a series of 9 Grand Crus from Gevrey Chambertin from the 2016 vintage. Identities of the 9 wines known but not the order of service. Tasted blind. The first thing of note is the very groovy modernist non Burgundian label from Ponsot. Never seen anything like it. As far as the wine itself - Mid Ruby in colour. Muted nose even after vigorous swirling. On the palate dense and rich with sweet Medium plus tannins. I thought at the beginning of this group that if the Corton group was so good how great will this bracket from Gevrey be? — 2 days ago

Never come across this new label
It must be a super minuscule parcel from the GC.

Zweigelt blend, smooth, subtle tannins on finish. Nice acid, pepper, cherry flavors and flint. — 19 days ago

Holzspur St. Laurent 2015

Second time trying St. Laurent as a grape. Mostly unique to Austria - had a good one on the plane ride over as well. Deep red in the glass. Gives some nice red fruit but also a bit more oak than I’d prefer on the nose. But with some air that somewhat blows off. Nice and medium bodied with good acid, minerality, and spice on the finish. — a month ago
