This producer does such a great job with Sylvaner. Sweet pea shoots, intense mineral, and some green apple fruit on the nose. The palate has a softness and depth that is unexpected for this grape, at least by me, with lovely mineral/ herbal flavors and nice acid. Lengthy finish shows a little bitterish note towards the end. — a month ago
Wow. Most expansive nose yet on the Weltner 18’s. Cucumber, vegetables, herbal, apricot, huge minerals, lanolin, bouillon, lime zest, soupy, unreal clarity, transporting, what density and chewiness, complex and so so mineral, again no fruit, spicey, it’s so dry and that is sucks all the saliva out of your mouth. Not punishing. So so long. It’s complex, concentrated and ultra dry. So long. — 2 months ago
Super expressive aromatics. Fleshy, rich yet lean, with great length. — a month ago
Vin vif nature, très bien avec un fromage de chèvre — a month ago
Always the most large scaled and backwards of the three Weltner Sylvaner Erste Lages. Stunning tho. Big, foreboding nose with dazzling spring flowers, herbs and minerals. A hint of opulence but like a very hard NYT crossword hint. It’s there but you gotta search for it. Wow. Palate is so delicious. Caressing, opulent, icing on cake texture and amazing clarity. Really compelling texture and brazen, yes brazen citrus fruit. Tactile grip and lots of sap on the finish. So pure. Dazzling complexity. What length and poise. As it opens nose gets deeper and more pure. Wonderful finish. What flavor hierarchy. Attack, fruit, mineral, hit of opulence and icing on cake length. Awesome. — 2 months ago
Had in May 2011 at home in Rome.
Pale straw yellow.
Delicate and gentle scents of pear, green apple, passion fruit, floral and mineral.
Very elegant and in line with what you'd look for.
Fleshy mouth, still in balance, little aromatic, without being tiring.
Wine that keeps changing in the glass, but it will evaporate earlier than it will be fully appreciated.

Lovely orange with chalky, mineral finish — 10 days ago
The aromas of these wines transport me. Just like a field. Heavenly. Amazing depth and precision. So refined. Silky this is under $30. Lime zest, lime pith, airy, mineral, calming and zen like. White pepper. Palate is god level. So juicy and clean. Unbelievable refinement. Structured, balanced and so so juicy. Concentrated and deep with spring mineral favors and fresh vegetable flavors. But only the best ones like fiddlehead ferns, bok choy and others of that ilk. The finish is long. Wow. Longer than it should be. This is remarkable for its purity, poise and precision as this bottling always is. As it opens the wine’s aromas become confectionary. Electric acids. Not over the top acids but perfect acids. Gets it to a bit beyond lean. So good. Mineral wall of flavor on the finish. Just divine wine. — 2 months ago
