This is such an incredibly good Pinot noir - starting to get a touch of brick in the rim, it has pronounced aroma of cherry, violet, dried rose petal, orange zest, black cherry, wild strawberries, forest floor, and wild thyme (an unexpected garrigue-like note). Great finesse and elegance with the acidity giving a lean edge to the flavors and a terrifically long finish. A real tour de force of skill in the cellar. It will be good for another few years but drinking really well right now. — a year ago
Brief notes. Another excellent example of Pinot Noir from the Applejack vineyard. Red fruited with strawberry and cherry. Definitely more fruit driven than the Wombat Creek which has more whole bunch in the ferment. The differences are more in wine making technique than in terroir I feel. Sexton possibly a bit of each. — 13 days ago
Brief notes. Bright red fruits - ripe rich strawberry and cherry flavours. A little whole bunch influence and a touch of spice. More fruit driven than Lusatia Park normally is. The block has been sold to de Bortoli and no longer in the Giant Steps portfolio. This wine - 97 points from James Halliday. — 3 months ago
Stiegl is a very fine brewery based in Salzburg, Austria, with a tradition of brewing since 1492. Stiegl means small steps, and this superb lager is worth drinking slowly to savour. Bright, light, and smooth with a classic bread and light hopped taste. — a year ago
D: 7/17 A real privilege to have this so soon after the last; burgundy glass this time vs. bulbous white wine. First 90mins were similarly sublime, but then did close a little before livening up a more citrus forward fashion and then retracing its steps back into the sublime at around 3hrs. — 2 years ago
Don't judge me for liking this. It's Delightful white blossoms and white nectarine nose. Superbly drinkable on its own, this is a great go-to for an outdoor patio spring summer social, it's a crowd pleaser that's several steps above and much more interesting than your Pinot Grigio's — 2 months ago
A week ago I posted a tasting note on the 2018 Giant Steps Nocton Vineyard Pinot Noir that had won 3 Trophies at the 2019 Royal Queensland Wine Show. This Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Pinot repeated the 3 Trophy win at this year’s Royal Queensland Wine Show a month ago. Pale Ruby in colour - lovely aromatics - red fruited, rose petals. Wonderful palate intensity. Barely medium bodied. I wonder how this will cellar? It is so good now you wonder how much better it can get. I have been a long time admirer of Giant Steps and winemaker Steve Flamsteed who I knew from Toowoomba but what is disappointing is how the price has doubled under the new ownership. I used to pay $45 to $50 for the individual Cuvées and now a little over $90! — 9 months ago

Stalky and dusty black cherry. Apparently about 55% to 60% whole bunches in the ferment. It seems like more than that. Also fresh red florals and cranberry. Recently fellow Delectable taster, Aravind, had a tasting at Giant Steps, which I had recommended and his favourite Cuvée was Wombat Creek - the highest vineyard in the Yarra Valley. It certainly is very impressive and quite different to the other Giant Steps Cuvées. (97 points from James Suckling). Went well with Roast Duck. The next night still very stalky with a peppery note. — 7 days ago
