The Glenallachie

Aged 15 Years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This is getting better and better with air. I liked on opening and have to say I think I like it better. Not looking at what I rated it then but it’s got great weight, punch and flavor. The finish is long. I would like a bit more so not out of the park but very much a great finish to the day. Listening to a quick play of Enya because I can’t get enough Irish right now. Should have pulled a Teeling. Tomorrow. — 19 hours ago

I rated this a 9.0 before claiming it was hollow. I truly think these bottles get better.

Craigellachie

Aged 13 Years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

One of the most fascinating single malts I’ve ever had. This is not for beginners. It’s oily and industrial in the best way, with notes of grain, honey and oak. I liked it a lot, but it felt incomplete, maybe a little one note. Certainly not an everyday drinker, but it was definitely educational. I’m looking forward to trying some of their alternative barrel offerings. EDIT: This grew on me like Kudzu, baby. I LOVE this whisky. The more I drank the more complex and interesting it became. Glenfiddich

21 Years Old Gran Reserva Rum Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glenfiddich Gran Reserva 21yr - Light, sweet nose. Short pour which might affect. I’m getting a bit of plastic on the flavor. Sweet, light finish. — 10 months ago

Evolution Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Nothing super complex but wonderfully floral and sweet with enough structure to keep it balanced. Wonderful summer whisky — a month ago

Mortlach

16 Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A not-so-wee dram for my birthday reminds me how Mortlach separates from the herd. Transcendent light-bodied balance yet a finish that goes on in breath long after swallow. A poetic emotional drink. — 4 years ago
