Initially quiet on the nose from the cold, but quickly opening into limestone, intense minerality, nougat, caramel, apricot skin and ripe stone-fruit flesh. The palate is immaculate: unbelievably elegant, deeply concentrated and pure, with gorgeous integration, superb finesse and a wonderfully resolved texture. Juicy and ripe, but the defining feature is the bitter stone-fruit finish, which gives the wine tremendous tension and keeps all that richness perfectly controlled. Fully mature in its architecture now, seamless and complete, with terrific length. Almost 9.7. — a month ago

Needs a good 75 minUte decant. Very reluctant.

Nose: Smokey minerals. Lemon rind. Pith. Some sea breeze. Complete. Much richer and more dense as it opens.

Palate: hint of sweet lemon. Hidden density. Delicious. Elegant. Almost an herbal liquor taste after an hour. Denser an hour in.

On the palate rounder, a bit fuller with riper fruit - a touch exotic. So elegant, so poised, so juicy. A seducer & crowd pleaser. Year in, year out - never disappoints!

Day 2 notes. Lychee, ripe grapefruit, vanilla extract and chamomile tea. Palate is rich, juicy and has cake icing texture. Super fruity but also fresh. Acid is not awful. 9.4 to 9.5 overnight. — 3 years ago

Medium light lemon yellow. Quite open and fruited at first with pear , quince , white flowers, then after a while slightly smoky , chalky , wet stones . On the palate this is strict and mineral , much more so than the nose indicates. Green apple , pear and quince , lemon peel. Quite refreshing , sharp acidity , good wet stone , grafite , green apple tinged finish. Young needs another few years and will last well another decade maybe longer . — a year ago

The nose on this wine is magnificent, so beautifully funky and barnyardy, in the best of ways. On the palate, a true German Spatburgunder, lighter in color and mouth feel than a Burgundian Pinot Noir. I’m sure this will only get better with time. — a year ago

Killer nose of limestone, lime zest, some light butter and some light oak. So well done. Nose is so expressive. Palate is rich, ripe, textured and so clean with lovely sweet lime fruit and tremendous balance and purity. Nose has some nice sweaty elements as well. Unreal how clean this is. Stunningly pure.
