Thank you Sons of Eden for sharing this sample bottle of your 2018 Romulus Old Vine Shiraz with us - we well and truly enjoyed every last drop 🙌
This beauty picked up a coveted Platinum Award (97 points) at the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards 🏆 This is alongside many other awards including being in James Suckling’s Top 100 Wines of Australia 2021!
I can taste why!
It’s an opaque velvet red-black colour in the glass. It’s full of oomph on the nose with intricate yet vivacious notes of dark berry fruit, black pepper and leather. It’s heady, big and bold. In the mouth it follows suit with a super confident and sassy palate. It will cellar beautifully over the coming years, that’s for sure.

Jäkligt spännande och svingott kloakvattensbrunt vin. Doftar 🍑 och fruktcocktail men har en redig fyllighet på tungan som påminner mer om en fruktig ale. Blåser bort alla förväntningar jag hade. #tnwc — 19 days ago
bitter lemon 🍋 initially but finishes pamplemouse spritz — 4 months ago
Citrus. Smoke. Amazing nose. Color is almost brown from sediment. Does not fall easily into any category. Super weird, very memorable — 5 months ago
Drank with Father’s Day dinner of pappardelle bolognese at Corbin & Sons. Nice fruit and complexity with a velvety finish and mild tannins. — 8 days ago
Costco $15 and $25 corkage at Picaro. We have enjoyed several bottles of this wine this past 2 weeks in Mexico. Great value priced wine. Nothing on our bottle says “Hope Family Wines“, maybe this is a property that Wagner bought? — a month ago
Nose of blueberry, warm spices, dark chocolate, cured meat, and hint of violet. Full body. Dense yet lively on the palate. Plush tannins. Long elegant finish.
95% Syrah from Carneros and 5% Viognier from St. Helena, co-fermented.
Deliciously approachable, but will age gracefully for 10-15 years. — 5 months ago
