I like it! Light and smooth, but good with dinner (pasta, steak) & inexpensive — 10 hours ago
Nose has smokey dry earth, dry lavender, old licorice, dried black cherry, ripe black currant, dried blackberry and (light) dried oak.
Palate has silky dried blackberry, ripe plum, black currant jam, (light) dark chocolate, dried blueberry and light tannins. Mouth coating texture. Future bottles should be 2023+
50% Grenache & 50% Mourvédre
Paired with a bottom round beef roast, slow cooked 8+ hours with autumn root vegetables and the au jus from the roast, thickened with a little of my own tomato paste, delicious. — 10 days ago
With an hour of slow ox the wine was quite excellent! It was multilayered with good balance and a lengthy finish — 13 days ago
Soft bouquet of raspberries and plums. Medium soft dry tannic plums and dark fruit with a slow fade to a delicate dryness. — 4 days ago
Monthly WTF group recap. Theme this month was “bring something special”. Normally we taste all of the wines blind, but we decided to do a relaxed night with amazing wines at a great restaurant. Spectacular evening!
I’ve had a few Clarendon wines but never their Astralis. Time has been kind and has shed the baby fat off of this wine. It’s still ripe (slight hint of VA) with baked mixed berry pie, fig and Andes chocolate mint aromatics but it didn’t hit you in the face. Dense, but the 3-4hr slow ox softened the profile. The palate showed cherry liqueur and blackberry jam with notes of bay leaf and cinnamon. Only the faintest hints of herbal/savory notes showed on the finish. — 6 days ago
Honey and I loved this. Will definitely try again! — a month ago
I bought this out of curiosity, and boy was I surprised. Even my wife liked it, and she’s not really a cab drinker. — 2 months ago
Took 30’ to get good started slow then developed black cherry and even a hint of current 2015 vintage — 12 days ago
First glass started slow, then POW. Super smooth, complex, well rounded. Not overly powerful - a more delicate Cab...more of a Bordeaux to me. I’d buy a case if I could get at a reasonable price. $150 @ Cask — 10 days ago
