Press Run

Monterey County Pinot Noir

I like it! Light and smooth, but good with dinner (pasta, steak) & inexpensive — 10 hours ago

La Bastide Saint-Dominique

Les Hespérides Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2013

Nose has smokey dry earth, dry lavender, old licorice, dried black cherry, ripe black currant, dried blackberry and (light) dried oak.

Palate has silky dried blackberry, ripe plum, black currant jam, (light) dark chocolate, dried blueberry and light tannins. Mouth coating texture. Future bottles should be 2023+

50% Grenache & 50% Mourvédre

Paired with a bottom round beef roast, slow cooked 8+ hours with autumn root vegetables and the au jus from the roast, thickened with a little of my own tomato paste, delicious.

Haven’t had a CdP in a minute, this makes me thirsty for one! On an unrelated notes love the new profile pic 😻

Thanks. Not big CdP drinkers here, as most need time to settle. Household storage bottles are recent, so they're sleeping. Have enough older versions, but they are off-site, so hard to PnP, planning required.
Not a 'new' pic, been rocking it for several weeks. Until Julia and Team push out the Android update to address the first round of bugs on their new version, I can't update it. I'm going to work thru all of the fur-kids once I have the ability to change it again.

Clos St Jacques Gevrey Chambertin Pinot Noir 1993

With an hour of slow ox the wine was quite excellent! It was multilayered with good balance and a lengthy finish — 13 days ago

Clarendon Hills

Astralis Syrah 2005

Monthly WTF group recap. Theme this month was “bring something special”. Normally we taste all of the wines blind, but we decided to do a relaxed night with amazing wines at a great restaurant. Spectacular evening!

I’ve had a few Clarendon wines but never their Astralis. Time has been kind and has shed the baby fat off of this wine. It’s still ripe (slight hint of VA) with baked mixed berry pie, fig and Andes chocolate mint aromatics but it didn’t hit you in the face. Dense, but the 3-4hr slow ox softened the profile. The palate showed cherry liqueur and blackberry jam with notes of bay leaf and cinnamon. Only the faintest hints of herbal/savory notes showed on the finish.

I bought this out of curiosity, and boy was I surprised. Even my wife liked it, and she’s not really a cab drinker. — 2 months ago

La Crema

Fog Veil Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Took 30’ to get good started slow then developed black cherry and even a hint of current 2015 vintage — 12 days ago

Eisele Vineyard

Altagracia Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

First glass started slow, then POW. Super smooth, complex, well rounded. Not overly powerful - a more delicate Cab...more of a Bordeaux to me. I’d buy a case if I could get at a reasonable price. $150 @ Cask — 10 days ago
