Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes

Wagner Vineyards

Riesling Ice 2017

Last weekend entry: excellent NY Finger lakes ice wine.to my palate could have been a high end Sauternes if tasted blind. Nice snap & tension. Butterscotch, cream & apples. Very well done. And a 20$ 1/4 bottle. — 4 days ago

Fox Run Vineyards

Doyle Family Vineyard Chardonnay

Did a trip to the Finger lakes and after touring pretty much every single winery around lake Seneca, I kept going back to Fox Run for this wine. Also have ordered boxes to get delivered in MA. My favorite Chardonnay wine. — 12 days ago

Forge Cellars

Breakneck Creek Dry Riesling 2019

This wine was a knockout. It might be the second best dry Riesling I’ve had from the Finger Lakes. Would pair perfectly with oysters because of the pronounced salinity. Bursting with ripe white peaches, Granny Smith apple and freshly squeezed lime juice. Would describe this wine as electric, precise and refined. Delicious. — 11 days ago

Notes of stone fruit, patisserie, shale. Paired with simple lo mein. — 11 days ago

Hosmer

Cayuga Lake Sauvignon Blanc 2020

sensational! Rare grape for the finger lakes and Julia Rose has taken it and made something special out of this. Lots of citrus, peach and a really crisp finish. Love it — a month ago

Forge Cellars

Willow Seneca Lake Cabernet Franc 2019

This new offering from Forge Cellars continues to confirm my thought that Cab Francs are leading the way in single varietal reds from this region. Notes of ripe, lush fruits including blackberry, cherry and raspberry, as well as non fruit aromas smoke, earth and clove. This wine was really mouthwatering and delicious.
