Smash City Pinot Noir 2015

This was a monster truck Pinot for sure. Not to be paired lightly with food and not to be mistaken for a Burgundy. This has extraction, alcohol, and tons of flavor. Different but fun. — 11 days ago

Fancy Papers Hazy India Pale Ale

I’m not sure if I’ve tried a hazy IPA before, but if they’re all like this one, I’m hooked! So smooth and hoppy but not too bitter, fruity notes and goes down easy! — 7 days ago

@Sharon B it is a goat cheese! I meant to describe it, it’s sun dried tomato and garlic and it was sooo good. I was totally trying to channel you with my little cheese board lol 😁

Royal City Washington Syrah 2015

The battle of the Syrah versus the Shiraz. This time Shiraz from Torbreck won (the Factor). The Royal City Syrah was just as complex but the bold fruit and its sweetness were hiding some of the underlying earthy and mineral notes. Almost a bit out of balance. Still really good and made us fight over the last drop with our friends. — 6 days ago

M.C.K. (Motor City Kitty) Syrah 2017

Love this wine...gritty, fruit forward with black pepper at its core, smoky with mild meaty overtones...felt quite rustic at same time...Next one ill decant for hr or so to see if comes more alive but otherwise really great syrah from Charles... — 4 days ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2014

Lyle Fass

Elegant, perfumed nose of cherries, sawdust, wet earth, some flowers but I think more will come with air. Really layered and perfumed. Opens up impressively over 10 minutes. Palate is juicy and concentrated with impressive fruit, but has that lean 14 character but it’s balanced and pure. 14 is like 08 in Burgundy or 98. They will come around. Nice fruit saturation. Good length and cling. Nice density as it airs. Needs to get some more finesse to be great. More of a dense powerful Barolo but with really impressive fruit. Seems packed with a tight core. This will open. 9.2 for now. Pretty fierce tannins coming through now. — 15 days ago
