Earthy, deep cherry fruits on the nose and just a wallop or sweet, wet Volnay earth. Palate is so seductive and gorgeous. It has that 22 opulence but also the Garaudet earthy grit. Unreal, sweet and velvety tannins. Really brilliant. Let’s see what air does. I can only assume it will finesse out like in barrel. — a day ago

This is so good. Cooking now but more notes soon. It’s got this uncanny elegance on the palate plus this unreal concentration of sweet oak, minerals and fleshy fruit but backed up by ripping acids. Buttery Meursault but elevated beyond. — 2 months ago

Nose starts off with a bit of VA, dried leaves and some gorgeously pure cherry fruit that needs some air to reveal itself more. Great stoney minerality as well with some major florals. Gorgeous. Haunting. Palate is very 21 and a bit backwards out of the gates but the freshness, purity of the fruit and length indicate this will open up into something stunning. 9.4 now. Really fleshed out with air and has that nimble, impossible elegant 21 character with just perfect but restrained early season cherry fruit. Outstanding length and texture. 9.4 to .9.5 with an hour of air. — a year ago

This is the volnay.

Nose: ephemeral pink roses and lilacs. So pretty. Audrey Hepburn. Beautiful as it opens hints of savory.

Palate: sweet early drain cherry fruit. Hint of bitterness - cherry pit Silk beyond silk as a texture.

Not super dense. More old school volnay.

Everything I love about Burgundy. Light bodied, intensely perfumed fresh roses; flavors of cherry, raspberries, spice, earth, acidity; grip. Tannins and acidity should mellow with some age. It’s got it all. Continues to evolve with more air and the fruit seems to get sweeter. What a great wine. @Lyle Fass — a year ago
