Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay 2017

Definitely somewhere on the butterscotch spectrum which is usually a big turnoff for me, but here it’s part of a sweet creamy lemon / just-ripe pineapple meringue with acid lift and a crazy long finish for something that costs 30$. — 6 days ago

I really love this Pinot. Beautiful fresh red fruit up front with a super silky mouth feel. Ethereal and weightless. I think it has many more great years ahead of it. — 2 days ago

Great to hear. I have a couple 2010’s and have wanted to open them several times but Im patiently waiting. Sounds delicious.

@Bryan Kesting I think you will be very happy with them. No hurry to open them, but I bet they are getting into a nice zone.

Probably, though I didn’t give it the time to find out.

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

After drinking a few of these in a short period of time I’m getting more of the sense of the “Montebello” house style. This one is more restrained and slightly more austere than the 2010. On the nose, tobacco, cassis and earl grey tea. In the mouth, grippy tannins, dark fruit, black tea, acid. Long finish. Like all MB, needs time, but totally accessible now. Yum. — 7 days ago

Nose displays lanolin, Meyer lemon and beeswax. Oily texture on the palate, intermixed with crème brûlée and hints of white pepper. Finishes with moderate sweetness and soft caressing acidity. Stunning effort - Fulton St by Jean Georges. — 5 days ago

Mount Eden Vineyards

Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Delectable Wine

Mount Eden’s 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon represents the essence of what Cabernet Sauvignon is all about in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Deep, powerful and explosive, the 2016 simply has it all. A wine of tremendous depth and intensity. Readers, take note. This is world class Cabernet Sauvignon that in any other region would cost 2-3 times as much. Savory and expansive, with tons of mountain character and remarkable richness from low yields in 2016, the Cabernet Sauvignon is simply off the charts. It’s another utterly breathtaking wine from Mount Eden. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2020)

First time I’ve ever tried a Rhys Pinot I felt was really ready—I guess the 10+ year mark is the way to go. Beautiful red and blue fruit, rose petal, dried herbs, campfire and soil tones, layered and nuanced — 4 days ago

Powerful stuff. Young. Too young. On the nose, spices, roses, cassis, graphite. In the mouth dark fruit, leather, teeth coating tannins, acid. Long finish. Excellent vintage. — 2 days ago

Alpine Vineyard Chardonnay 2012

Ready to drink now with all the “Meursault meets Puligny” thing that Rhys Chardonney gets into after a few years in our opinion. Medium bodied and medium length with citrusy, floral and a hint of almonds. Very fresh and balanced, great with food. Recommended. — 17 days ago
