Earthy nose, raspberries, sour cherries. Medium body. Rusty, iron taste, good acidity, hint of mint? Very dry end, with noticeable tannins and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Tasty and complex. — 6 years ago
Always a treat to drink. Like their area wines more than the more expensive Gary, Roseanne & Pisoni bottling. At Little Hen, Haddonfield — 7 years ago
Opulent style but terrific. Nuanced, smoke and forest floor. — 7 years ago
This underwent 100% malolactic and spent 10 months in 30% new French oak, so it has a creamy palate ripe with stone fruits. Yet it does not feel heavy or cloying. Oak is well managed and acidity manages to be fresh. Quite enjoyable.

Very cool to try this vintage. The color has gone to a very rusty red amber and almost a brown rim. (bummer you can’t upload more than one photo) Olive and earth on the nose. Very savory V8 notes of tomato, tomato bisque , black pepper. The palate still has great acidity, very rounded, just a nice lingering finish and almost feels high in heat even though this sits at 12.5% — 4 years ago

Nose:
Cranberry
Bright red fruit
Tart
Cured meat/bresaola
Leaves, mushroom, moss
Forrest floor
Iron character (rusty nails) – from Tuscany
Palate:
Dry wine
Mouth-watering acidity
Tart red fruits
Forrest floor
Oregano, tomato, sage – like herbs, tomato sauce
Balance between tannin and acidity
Imagining it with veal chop, fat to deal with acid/tannin

You know something special is afoot when this is the basic* juice.
N: Rhubarb, orange/red flowers, strawberry candy. You could smell this for days…or nights.
P: It’s crisp and cool, forest fruits and paired with Hen of the Woods and creminis, polenta, we’re in the pocket. There is that subtle sous-bois , or underbrush to it that matches so well.
Delicious stuff. — 3 years ago
Old Speckled Hen is a favourite. It's malty, slightly sweet with a nice hint of caramel. A good solid old fashioned English pint. — 4 years ago
I love the sweet blueberry and grape mixture. One of my favorite blueberry based wines. "It taste so good when it hits the lips" 🍇 🍷 — 6 years ago
Rusty red color. Swirling released dried flower, mulch, black cherry and leather notes. Mushroom, floral and red fruits with silky tannins in the palate. Stunning old world Bordeaux. — 6 years ago
