Château Gruaud Larose

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

Rusty red color. Swirling released dried flower, mulch, black cherry and leather notes. Mushroom, floral and red fruits with silky tannins in the palate. Stunning old world Bordeaux. — 5 years ago

PnP. Dark red color. Awesome, complex nose filled with bell pepper, cardamom, oak, flowers, and a hint of peppermint. Bright cherries and wood on the palate. Medium depth and finish. Very nice! — 10 months ago

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2001

Light garnet-ruby. Rusty, musty nose. Olive brine, dried blueberry. Long, juicy, bloody palate, with reverberating acidity and prickly tannins. Hints of roasted nuts and cocoa. So alive on the palate. A real treat. — 5 years ago

@romo Interesting. How so?

Look at your profile. This is an outlier. I feel same about Cote Rotie as a “real treat”.

@romo Fair enough. I def think of Cote Rotie as a special occasion wine but not an outlier.

Laird Family Estate

Red Hen Ranch Chardonnay 2018

This underwent 100% malolactic and spent 10 months in 30% new French oak, so it has a creamy palate ripe with stone fruits. Yet it does not feel heavy or cloying. Oak is well managed and acidity manages to be fresh. Quite enjoyable.

The Laird family holds about 2000 acres of vineyards in Napa Valley, including Suscol and Linda Vista. Red Hen is the home estate.

Château Haut-Bergey

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2002

Very cool to try this vintage. The color has gone to a very rusty red amber and almost a brown rim. (bummer you can’t upload more than one photo) Olive and earth on the nose. Very savory V8 notes of tomato, tomato bisque , black pepper. The palate still has great acidity, very rounded,just a nice lingering finish and almost feels high in heat even though this sits at 12.5% — 4 years ago

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Incredible wine...still holding on to some grippy tannins yet has a beautiful roundness and supple feel. Tasted like a classic Bordeaux style with some aspects of metallic, rusty nail and bloody. — 5 years ago
