Hermitage Syrah 2015

So much juicy juicy goodness. Incredibly chuggable given its soft fruit and refreshingly brisk tannin. A more shouldered and deeply structured Crozes in some ways. Still not convinced that one should ever age a D&R syrah, so much life and deliciousness when young. Caught this a stage where some tertiary development was occurring, but a slightly progressed hue makes me think it would be difficult to keep alive for years on. Cherry Herring, Chambord, any berry/cherry liquor you can think of, Creme de Violette, Lavender oil, candied black olives, bacon fat, star anise, cinnamon, talcum, some slightly sweaty/meaty notes from a touch of VA, adds to meaty savory quality well. Performing well over hours of drinking. — a month ago

Pé du Loup Crozes-Hermitage Marsanne Roussane 2017

Expresses its windy exposition and kaolin clay soils, the fruit is dialed and taught with firm tannins driving the wine through the finish. Mineral underpinnings. Despite its nerve, the classic D&R buoyant fruit emerged. Would like to see it in 1-2 years to see where it is. — a year ago

les pins Crozes Hermitage Syrah 2018

Chambord, licorice, garrigue, roasted bacon, crushed black cherry, lavender pastille, smoke, menthol, crushed rock, more roasted herbs, hot iron. There’s depth here, the structure and body pushing towards Hermitage. This is my favorite cuvée from DetR and running for best of the Crozes appellation in my opinion. — 3 months ago

Pitrou St. Joseph Syrah 2015

Great nose of dried red flowers and red fruit. Juicy yet elegant fruit on the palate with an undertone of earthiness. LOVE! — 8 months ago
