Puligny Montrachet Chassagne Montrachet, Côte De Beaune

Domaine Leflaive

Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1992

Tasted blind. Medium gold. Rich, “wow” nose... has a noticeable power that is a step above the other whites tonight. Lots of lemon and citrus, some gravel stone and dirt, tan spice, white acacia flowers. Later some creme brûlée thing pops in. The experience goes on and on for hours. Has an amazing level of balance... fruit, richness, complexity and structure. Again shows us this is an all time white. We all nailed our guess on this beauty by the process of deduction and the obvious quality of this amazing, in great condition juice. — 20 hours ago

Smooth and buttery. Wonderful with roast chicken. The low alcohol allows us to taste the wonderful terroir. — 11 hours ago

Contrary to the Meursaults It seems that Raphael much more followed the style of his dad. Very racy lemony puligny with the typical but subdued smoke. Medium body, outstanding. — 10 days ago

Closed wine, incredible debt, wood not fully integrated, white peaches. Lots of acidity. Don’t drink now. — 10 days ago

Bienvenue Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1992

Tasted blind. Medium gold color. Tight nose. Some apricot and lemon, but not giving much like the other whites despite it having ample air time. Has lots of fruit and power inside, but there is a slight taint that comes and goes that hides this wine’s true self. It came around though and showed better before it was polished off. Hugely enjoyable but just a touch off. — 2 days ago

A wonderful wine that needed a few hour decant. Lemon zest, linseed oil, pear and orange blossom. Lavender. More citrus and stones on the palate with good structure. Wonderful food wine that has aged perfectly. — 2 days ago

Lovely nose. Mint. On the palate a bit rich and honeyed on the end. Not as good s as you’d hope but still fine — 3 days ago

Tasted blind. Medium gold. Heavy in the glass. Tropical nose. Notes of citrus, pear, gravel stone, honey, some mint. Lots of power and silky richness in the mouth. Had a lemon creme thing build up in the nose over the evening that is very enticing. Long finish. Guessed 90 Ramonet BBM. — 2 days ago

Nose is so beguiling. Instantly seductive. Slow ox then 3 hrs in the decanter. Beautiful wine. So mineral. Meyer lemon, candied fruits, wet stone, vanillin. Palate does a delicate dance before a huge finish. Slightly closed right now, give these time and/or air. Lovely stuff. — 10 days ago

Agree that 18’s are closing down. Sadly 19’s seem tight as well. I think 17 is the vintage to drink now.

Gorgeous nose. Floral up the wazoo, minerals up the wazoo. So so expansive. Saline. Salty. Saline, white flowers. Superb. Just superb. Palate is glorious, wow what painful concentration, huge minerals. Massive structure, needs 5 years. Inner mouth aromas. Amazing purity and sweet minerals and lovely oak integration. Floral, hint of honey, sweet wood and saline. Needs mega air — 18 days ago
