Ode to Lulu California Old Vine Rosé Blend 2024

This is the Ode to Lulu Mourvèdre Rose (back label says that it’s “ancient vines” grown on sand, so maybe mostly CCC fruit?). The color so pale as to almost resemble a skin contact “orange” white wine. Nose is all fruit. Nectarine, strawberry, an orange-zest thing too. Dry and so gulpable. Dangerous on a warm and humid afternoon! — 12 days ago

Frankovka Rosé 2025

From White Horse Wine and Spirits. Will have to try again when it’s colder because warm it’s a little flat. Maybe some watermelon in there and some lemon too. — 4 days ago

Ode to Lulu California Rosé Blend 2021

Rose in October? Rose with ‘age’? Yes and yes, especially when it’s in the mid-70s in New York and it’s the ‘21 Bedrock Ode to Lulu. This wine gives you plenty of Bandol for the buck, based on old vine Mourvedre from premier vineyards. With another year in bottle, it was darker hued, subtler and perhaps even a bit sturdier than on initial release. A great wine for what feels like an endless summer. UPDATE 7/25 — last of my ‘21s still vibrant, more fruit and minerals, less floral. Stood up to a spicy shrimp dish and a soy/maple syrup marinaded skirt steak. Delicious on a beautiful July 4th outdoors. — 2 years ago

Pinot Noir & Co Rosé 2013

JKT

Nice medium pink Rose of Pinot Noir from Austria! mellowed by a bit of age. Strawberry peach orange and mixed floral acidic notes with very lively stony firm texture and good bite carrying through to a stimulating long finish. ABV 12. Nice JR buy and apparently top seller last several years. Last bottle. Raised score by one from 2016 note. — 5 years ago

Party Monster Chapman Vineyard Pet Nat Carignane Rosé

I mean, the name alone makes you want to, at the very least, try it. And let me tell you, you’ll be happy you did! Some red fruit (cranberry mainly) and acidity with a yeasty finish. A fun change from your standard bubble options and the perfect holiday color! — 7 years ago
