"V V" Mendocino County Carignan 2017

Corks gives away who made this Garagiste private label. A nice blue collar dinner wine. Nose has loads of crunchy dark cherry, crushed limestoney soil, and a forest floor note. A blast of dry cherry/berry fruit opens on the palate, but it quickly gives way to some stony mineral notes. Nice zingy acids too. The tannins are resolved, but the zestiness says this will last a couple more years. — 2 years ago

@Delectable Wine this is the Columbia Valley bottling.

Medium ruby red. A bit of vanilla on the nose with some heat, dark cherries, dark chocolate, and a touch herbal. Medium tannins (6/10) and strong acidity. Dark cocoa on the palate with plums and black cherries. Medium plus finish with a bit of heat. Drink till 2022.

PK Pinot Noir

This is actually the Sonoma coast Pinot Noir “PK”
Blankets of strawberry and brioche for a nose,
The fruit is delicious, ripe raspberries - the type where you eat a whole pint because you cannot help yourself - a bit of pie crust, twigs, branches, and a zippity do dah acidity that comes in the jolly rancher red variety.
Solid purchase.

{ P } Red Mountain Merlot 2008

Moderately opaque ruby violet. Aromas of plum, black cherry, cocoa powder, coffee, and vanilla with hints of mint. Round and soft on the palate with plenty of sweet, dark fruit. Medium bodied with medium acidity and velvety tannins. Finishes long with a bit of heat from 14.5% alcohol. Drinking very well right now with the structure to easily go another 5 years. — 7 years ago

Halfway through my work conference here in San Francisco, and we wanted to make our way to the piers for dinner one night and get some prime seafood. I’m with 3 co-workers who know nothing about wine, so I ordered this. Every single person tasted and said “holy smokes, I didn’t know white wine could taste this good”. Merry Edwards SB is a crowd pleaser. Not a massive citrus bomb, with flavorful savory notes of wet rock and limestone. Perfect for seafood. 👌 — 7 years ago
