Can't do this one in English: la classe à la Bordelaise, l'élégance à la Bourgogne. Un nez poussiéré qui évolue en de très beaux fruits rouges à sous-bois que l'on retrouve en bouche, superbe. Ces épices un peu poivrées, ces notes végétales qui pourrait attendre encore des années et dès années, juste magnifique! — 10 years ago
-Earthy on nose, sous bois with syrup and red fruit
-Brighter more acid on palette. Brighter red fruit — 4 years ago
Philippe Livera is how most know the wine. A recent purchase and a good one, this is a super 99 grand cru that will just get better. Red and blue-fruited, it has more density than expected for Chapelle, a little secondary and a little tertiary development, ripe tannins, hints of sous bois, there is good acidity and balance and a creamy mouthfeel--wife says "yummy." Super wine. — 10 years ago

Note to the Vinous team, this is a “Monthelie premier cru LES CLOUS Jean-Philippe Fichet 2015”
Very Light colour. Reduction on the nose at first but then opens up beautifully with some air, red berries, spices, a touch of wood it seems or cigar box but not dominant. The palate has superb energy, freshness and such pure delicious fruit, classy and elegant, drinks like a charm. My fourth or fifth bottle of this Monthelie premier cru and each one was great. This master of white wine succeeds also with his reds. 91-92+
91-92 + — 6 years ago
A new fave - fruity yet nicely crisp, no sugary after taste. — 10 years ago

My first experience with the wines of the late Philippe Engel and what better occasion than our humble take on La Paulée. I’ve heard that bottle variation can be a thing with these wines so we held our collective breath when opening. However, our concerns were unfounded as this bottle was not only sound, but beautiful.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2001 Clos Vougeot pours a pale ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with perfumed notes of ripe and slightly dried strawberry, raspberry, dried flowers, licorice, sous bois, truffle, dried herbs, and a mix of cool and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is silky. A profoundly soulful wine and one that will live long in my memory. Drink now through 2041. — a month ago
