Beautiful nose with great freshness & purity, with white flowers, popcorn reduction, a bit of white peach & green lemon. The wood aging brilliantly integrated. Very Burgundian, very, very fine.
On the palate this shows amazing energy with a beautiful balance & tension between the white fruit & zingy fresh acidity. The play between the fruit, limestone minerality & very skilled subtle wood influence is stunning.
Depth, precision, energy.
Slightly lighter & less structured vs. a Chardonnay but this is Village Burgundy on a very high level. — 2 years ago
Crisp and acidic, and so delicious! — 3 years ago
Green apple, green lemon, a hint of gooseberry but also stony, mineral. Juuuicy, with racy acidity, lemon juice galore with a few rocks thrown in. Amazing length. A very linear, puristic ascetic Riesling but, like a Gothic cathedral, impressive in its style. — 8 months ago
Lovvvvve it. Even good without tuna tartare. — 2 years ago
Winery in the Rheingau is now called Kaufmann. Tasted this over the Christmas Holidays in Frankfurt. Beautiful wine, good acidity, hint of lemon, peach, and a soft petrol nose. Urban Kaufmann and partner Eva Rapp have been leaders in redefining Germany's classification system this GG (Grosses Gewachs) is a great start — 4 years ago
A bit less expressive than the Schwarzer Herrgot, v. shy peach. White tea, a bit more breadth.
Beautiful presence on the palate. Poised, elegant with apricot & lemon with some spice. The mineral sharpness balanced by the pure fruit. More complete, less stark, what a truly lovely wine! — 8 months ago
Isn’t it great how a diner-style restaurant in downtown Napa could have a delicious red wine like this in a half-bottle format? Medium body, laid-back dark fruit, vegetal notes on the nose - crunchy on palate, good acidity, lovely #cabernetfranc that worked so well with a mild green chili burger + farmesan fries. — 9 months ago

Paired this with our Easter Honey Baked Ham and it was delicious. Old world style with low alcohol made it food friendly and easy drinking. Planning a tasting there soon and will be picking up some to have on hand. — a month ago
