Made a butternut squash/burrata/kale/sage/pumpkin seed/fig pizza last night and combined the leftover slice to a pie of Motorino’s I got from Saltwater’s (my coffeeshop) neighbor in the East Village. I’ve been going to Motorino’s since 2012 and it’s one of my favorite Neapolitan pies in the city.
Sharp as a sporty, citrus cologne of vetiver, pine, and sage. Lemon peel and grapefruit mist. Really love this unusually fresh and zippy bouquet.
It’s got the freshness of a Chablis and the citrus and melon notes of Sauvignon Blanc. Love the high tone acidity here — it just works. It doesn’t try to belabor itself with subtlety, just announcing straight up, this is who I am. Grapefruit, melon, lemon rind, sage, and even some of the juicy unctuous qualities that ripe blackberries can have.

Densely knit cherry fruit with some spice and burgundy funk. The vintage shows its weight without being over the top.. Small mineral driven finish. Lovely. — 7 months ago
Medium ruby color with garnet on the edge. Smells of fresh cherries. Medium acidity with grippy tannins. Tart cherry flavor. Good experience. — 9 months ago
I love me some Vice Versa. The only thing better than the wine might be the people! Samantha and Patrice are amazing people, and Maayan and team Atelier Melka need no introductions. I am so happy to watch them succeed. Having purchased an estate property last year, we can’t wait to visit them in the future. Ok, back to the wine. While “im”patiently awaiting my single vineyard designates to age I am enjoying two of their lines, Le Petit Vice and the Napa Valley blend. While I prefer the 15s and 16s to the 17, the Napa Valley blend never fails to impress. More tasting notes next time. — 4 years ago
PnP. Initial taste of bright red cherries and a hint of herbs, fantastic. Then after 15 min the acid and tannin just dominated the fruit. That transformation tarnished what I thought was to be one enjoyable Pinot. Maybe time will help just not sure how the acid and tannin grew with air. Hope someone can explain this for me. — 9 months ago

Nose has metallic blackberry, white pepper, ripe plum, prune and baking spices.
Palate has tart plum, dried blackberry, white pepper on mashed black cherries and potting soil. Medium body, light minerality, medium finish. Nice wine, young, could really benefit from a few years of proper resting.
60% Pineau d’Aunis / 30% Pinot Noir / 10% Cabernet Franc
A solid pairing with local (Jacüterie/Hudson Valley, NY) British Bangers on the grill tonight, peppery wine with well spiced, fresh sausage, yum! — 4 years ago

2018 vintage. Open for business. Tasted three bottles with consistent notes. All three decanted. No sed. Medium/medium-heavy body. Smoky, plummy nose. Bright Rainier cherry mixed in with nose impressions along with some candied raspberry and astringent rose petals. Wanted slightly more tannin involvement but methinks they’re smoking ciggies, playing cards and just waiting for the kids to fall asleep. 7.27.24. — 4 months ago
