Gorgeous, flinty nose with hint of barnyard. Grippy tannins. Hint of coffee and soy sauce after 3 hours. Almost Valentini Cerasuolo-ish. Imperial Treasure Teochew Ion with Andrew Dutton.
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. There I was suggesting that Maume's Mazis-Chambertin 2011 was clearly not the pick from the domaine this vintage and lo and behold, it trumps all in a blind tasting. It has quite an earthy note on the nose with mint-tinged red fruit and black plum unfurling at its own leisurely pace in the glass. Later, this is joined by fennel and rosemary scents, creating an intriguing aromatics profile. The palate is medium-bodied, a touch foursquare on the entry, but with good substance, the texture grainy and quite peppery toward the finish. There is a lot going on in this grand cru and it will be fascinating to see how it develops and if it maintains this stellar quality. RP95, 2011, issued Nov 2014

All you would expect from a 2014 Napa Valley Cab. It’s big, well balanced and lingers on at a lovely pace. — 6 years ago
60% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot & 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
Nose has spring rose, rain moistened red raspberry, black currant and fresh sage.
Palate has lightly tannic blackberry, wet leather, ripe black currant, cigar box, wet clay and tarry black cherry.
Paired with a long cooked Bolognese sauce over fettuccine. Decanted ~3hr, more time in the decanter would benefit. Future bottles can be 2022+
Happy Father's Day 2019 to all. Today I'm posting pictures of our kids, yes they are all furry, independent and somewhat self-interested. Two boys (8) and two girls (2), sisters, all rescued. They generally bring the utmost of joy to my life on a daily basis. It has been a rainy and relaxing day here, everyone is loving the slow pace of life today.
I think that Delectable needs to be able to tag cat+wine posts so that I can make a bookmark for felines. — 7 years ago

Totally out there wine. Orange wine in stainless. Super fresh. You can feel the skins. Orange and grapefruit rind on the palate. Very fresh and juicy. Really really juicy. A hint of bitterness. Amazing change of pace wine. A great wine to have twice a year. I had it with salad and oueffs en meurette. — 7 years ago
Beautiful wine, and nice change of pace in Napa! — 8 years ago
This is an excellent Chardonnay keeping pace with Bass Phillip’s Premium Pinot Noir. That has not always been the case but this certainly is. Stone fruit and honeycomb with a creamy texture and medium plus intensity on the palate. Enough acid to warrant having the last bottle later in the year or early in 2027. — 5 months ago

Bon soir from Paris and and change of pace to burgundy. Since canard was on the menu tonight, a burgundy seemed appropriate. A little tightly wound, this Gevery Chambertin was light and peppery with sour cherries and good acidity. Nice pairing with some excellent duck. — 5 years ago
Nice change of pace. Real meaty. — 6 years ago

October 2019!
Beautiful label ‘Adopt the pace of nature; Her secret is Patience’ ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Mother Nature is intriguing and elusive, reigning with grace and beauty. There is no doubt that she is the one True Myth. We respect her for the enigma that she is and honour her with a beautiful Cab Sav - smooth wine loaded with blackberry & cherry, touch of caramel.
Enjoyable, love the label - intrigued me to try and so glad I did! — 7 years ago

The 1995 Lafleur was bought and served blind by Baptiste Guinaudeau at a dinner in Saint-Émilion. It's not dissimilar to the bottle drunk in 2018. On the nose, there is black fruit with graphite and game hints. Given that it is now 27 years old, the 1995 is maturing at a glacial pace. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins that loosen up with aeration. With blackberry, black truffle and a touch of smoke, this Lafleur exudes Cabernet Franc on the finish. I thought that it might be ready to drink now, but this suggests it would be better to wait. Tasted in Bordeaux. (Neal Martin, Vinous, January 2023) — 3 years ago
Funky rose, very memorable and a great change of pace on a hot day. Fruity, dry, and delightful. — 5 years ago
Big and round mouthful, dried cassis, tobacco. Some hints of bell pepper. Rustic but very well balanced at the same time. Deep and inky purple. Fruit is far back there, which is a nice change of pace for us Americans. Great with a NY strip on a Thursday night. — 7 years ago
The oxidation is an element but not dominant. Salty. Balanced richness. Mineral. Delicious baked apply thing going on Wow. I had this with peppers and anchovies and grilled halumi. That combo needs a change of pace wine. And this delivered. You don’t want to drink this style every day but once a month it’s fun as hell. Bought from fass selections. — 7 years ago
serious depth and roundness. refreshing change of pace from white wines that have cranked up acidity. — 8 years ago
3/8/14 — Full bodied taste was an intense shock to the mouth. Started out peppery and oakey, almost Bourbon-like. The excitement faded quickly though, leaving a bright but rather boring grape flavor. Short finish, less than half a minute. — 9 years ago

What an interesting wine. Really enjoyed this one. Was really big with a hint of sweetness. Some peach and apricot. Hints of floral but mostly rich fruits. Need to explore this grape more. — a month ago
