Dry for a Pinot - Nonna doesn’t like but Lisa does — 3 years ago
Marenco ‘Pineto’ Brachetto D’Acqui DOCG 2015: Light. Bright. Sweet. Delicious fruity flavors: Raspberry. Strawberry jam. Cherry soda. Paired perfectly with homemade crescentina fritta (grazie nonna!), soft cheeses, salumi & nutella! Happy Holidays to all! Cheers🍷🎄 — 5 years ago
Reddish-brown. Sweet cherries, eucalyptus, prunes, antique woood furniture in the nose. Silky tannins. Cherry forward, strawberries, balsamic. Lots of oak on the finish. Lingering. It's like an old nonna - you know she's survived the test time yet manages to stay oh-so sweet and captivating. — 5 years ago

An Australian Sangiovese made by an Australian Italian Family. Not particularly Sangiovese like the real deal but it does have cherry, dark chocolate and aromas of decayed matter. I recall Peter Scudamore-Smith MW saying on our Tuscan trip that he didn’t think there were any top Quality Australian Sangioveses made mainly because we are using the wrong clones. Australian Sangiovese seems to be a work in progress. Had another bottle 56 weeks later on 26th March 2020 with similar notes although showing more varietal characters this time of skins, earth and leather. — 7 years ago
About to go outside and grill some Christmas lamb chops. I cannot tell you how many times bottles of various vintages of this special wine purchased on secondary markets—which is the only way worker bees like me can score Fonsalette—have disappointed. But, in a Christmas Miracle, this one’s pristine and sooooo good. Cork intact, very little saturation. High fill. A little amber at the rim, but no more than to be expected for its age. Lovely nose is opening with air (I double decanted) and is showing sultry, inviting scents of wet loamy gravel, pink grapefruit flesh, rich, oozy red berries, and well cared-for leather. So packed with flavor but in a frame that seemingly floats, it’s still got some tannin to shed but it’s quite soft textured. What balance! Quite long.
This is the wine I chose (the ‘83 iteration) in March 1987 when I invited a then-new friend over for grilled (on my fire escape ) lamb chops and Italian green beans (like my Nonna made them). That night turned out to be a first date with my wife of over 36 years. So we try to replicate that dinner at least once a year, and this is the first time in quite a while that the Fonsalette delivered and was not the victim of careless storage!!!! I’m a happy boy! — 6 months ago

Disfruten saludos

A local Sonoma choice while in Concord, CA. Shale on the nose and smooth lemon citrus on the taste buds. Everything I want my Chardonnay to be. Enjoy with Lala and Nonna at Paso del Rio over a cheese, pickles, and fig plate. Bacchus approves — 2 years ago
Bright straw colour
Pear, candied ginger, pomelo, little oxidative whoch translates in an almondy hint, white musk , potatoes and white truffle, and a reminiscence of "torta della nonna". Wet rocks and balsamic. Fresh, mineral and long.
Just missing something in the body in order to be a better wine. Still an excellent find. — 3 years ago

Loved it. Tart cherries, earthy, long finish, good tannins, but in a medium to light package. Not the best nose. Seems heavy w al. But just 13% al. Great by itself. As good day two. — 7 years ago

Crisp, some apple, citrus, and a long finish. Biancello is the local grape along the Metauro River, which flows through Fano to the Adriatic. My nonna was Fanese, so I have an affinity for this. My last bottle. This is a seafood/ simmer app wine. It’s 60, so break out the shorts and fire up the grill! — 4 months ago
