On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor David Newman is leading a live-to-picture performance of Leonard Bernstein’s score for “West Side Story”, originally directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, and with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
For live-to-picture productions, the orchestra performs the entire movie score in real time as the film unspools. (Vocals, dialogue and effects are isolated from the original music track.) The BSO installed very fancy and large LED screens on the perimeter of the Shed facing the Lawn, amazing!
Very nice light Salmon color. Nice fruit, 50% Cinsault & 50% Grenache. Very tasty, much better than their still rosé. — 6 years ago

Sparkling strawberry juice! So fun, love this wine. Please see my prior notes. — 6 years ago
Originally I passed on this wine, it was offered to me and I thought it was just a cute label. Frankly it’s fitting that the imagery deals with school because I failed that test. Talk about smooth, you could be playing poker with Paul Newman while listening to the Rat Pack wearing a leather jacket like Steve McQueen and you would approach this level of smooth and cool. Hardly to no tannins or overwhelming acid but fresh. Low in alcohol, or at least it tastes like it, but just wonderful warm and inviting fruit without being too jammy or over ripe. A small hint of vanilla and just enough sweet spices to keep things interesting. Smells of deep ruby, almost purple fruit. You know that girl that wears sweats to class everyday and later ends up being a runway model? Tasting this is her email saying she always thought you were cute. — 6 years ago

Loving this bottle, notes are a little different tonight, citrus pith, green apple and cooked grain (oh so faint tho). The show ended and we finished this in the parking lot as we waited for the insane traffic to dissipate. So much better once it warms up. 3hr decant before the show. — 6 years ago
Excellent! Concentrated cab. Blackberry, cassis, and cocoa. Intoxicating nose and lingering finish. Todd Newman make fabulous wines! This should still improve with age for some time to come, but drinking beautifully now! — 7 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Our conductors are David Newman and John Williams are leading a diverse program of cinematic works composed by John Williams entitled "Across The Stars: Music Of John Williams". We'll enjoy pieces from Star Wars (various episodes), Harry Potter, E.T., Memoirs of a Geisha and many others. All works to feature the violin virtuoso, Anne-Sophie Mutter, a personal favorite soloist of ours on these hallowed grounds. Mr. Williams has rearranged many of the selections today to better feature Ms. Mutter, an exciting afternoon will lay ahead. 🎼🎻
A nicely aging monopole Chardonnay, loving the lightly oxidized yellow fruits.
Nose has oxidized, yellow apple skin peel, papaya and medium oak more notable today than prior bottles, albeit not distracting but embracing.
Palate has creamy, tropical fruits, over-ripe lemon and light minerality.
Just an exceptional bottle, likely the best of all the 'Clos de Malte' 2011's we've enjoyed to date. — 5 years ago

Very strawberry, intense skin color extraction, very nice, in a year, I hope this is where the '16 is now. See my prior notes please. — 6 years ago
Excellent weight and depth. Expansive and floral. Broad minerals. Chablis-esque. Neutral oak. Awesome value. Goes with cod and Randy Newman. — 7 years ago

A pretty full-bodied rose. Sparkling tropical fruits (a lot of watermelon and strawberry) with a very satisfying finish. Another wonderful wine from Todd Newman and Dakota Shy! — 5 years ago
