Rosso di Montepulciano Sangiovese Blend 2023

Solid effort here: deep dark garnet, opaque, wafting cherry & strawberries, florals, herbs, spices and plenty of earthiness - on the palate the fruit is a bit tart, like sour cherry and early season berries, some minerality but loads of sweet soil, leather, mild spice and relatively juicy acidity. this is textbook and well made, solid QPR. prefer this over over-priced chianti classicos — 8 days ago

It's fruity and has depth. I don't really taste the tannins in the prosciutto wrap. — 2 months ago

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2022

2022 Vintage. Rustic red in color, cherry and pepper on the nose. A fairly dry Sangiovese, but after 30 minutes, it opened up nicely. Medium bodied, paired well with spicy sausage and potatoes. — 3 months ago

Another straggler that aged better than expected. Medium bodied with red fruity notes still present balanced by earthy acidic palate — 5 months ago

A Quo Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Sangiovese

Strawberries, cherries, leather on the nose. After about 2 hours it opened up beautifully. The palate brought plenty of acid, structured tannins, and some great dark and red fruits. Medium plus body.

Vigneto di Popoli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2016

Fresh, enticing, elegant.
Nose with earthy, musky raspberries, mulberries, a touch of damson plum, and a light flowery whiff
On the palate this is silky smooth. Zero rusticity, chewy tannins or sharp acidity - so often found in Montepulciano.
This has flow, energy, good depth, nice minerality underneath the fruit. And all this with 12% alc.
This is not at all what I expected! What a delight, what a nice surprise!
Very elegant, smooth, delicious.
A brilliant example the Montepulciano can deliver great wine!
Only but - you get 2 bottles of Ziereisen’s Syrah for one of this - and blind I would not be able to tell the difference.
