"K" Alsace Pinot Gris 2016

this bottle takes me back to Alsace.
i spent a weekend in Strasbourg in 2006 protesting/partying in front of the European parliament that's located there.
no wine was tasted as i sticked to self imported bottle of zubrowka vodka, drops of potent LSD (that were dropped to the tail end of the vodka by a really short vicious smiling man - true story) and local pilsner beer that i remember fondly that's called 'meteor' and came in large 750ml bottles(pretty good ice cold and just ok after the sun warmed up the last 3rd of the bottle).

and now... 13 years later. different tastebuds. but I'm still the same person essentially.

100% pinot gris

off dry officially but feels dry.

14% ABV

pale green πŸ‘€

πŸ§€ rind, green apple, pear, very fresh lemon and finely chopped greensπŸ‘ƒ

full body. I'm guessing the rs helps to build it.
medium plus acidity.

creamy, tart and a bit fruity with added white pepper and maybe even ginger πŸ‘„

long lingering pleasent creamy 🎯 like tasty and slightly bitter 🍬

great wine, no doubt about it.
tasty and complex, plays with you and changes every sip, but always superb.

excelent vfm (110 nis). expensive but works hard for your money.

need to try the winery Riesling now.

had it all day on it's own while vacationing.
soft and spicy cheese platter could have helped but I'm too full.

Bare Bottom

Nuova Raccolto Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

New bottle I've never heard of made by Aaron Pott,
Clone 4 & 337 adjacent to Meteor Vineyard
Accessible early, but still gave it a 2 hour decant to start, nice $60.00 bottle
Actually Barrel + ink winery not bare bottom,
Actually Bare Bottom is more appropriate since today is Naked gardening dayπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ, true story, saw it on the news (l)

Voluptas

Eastern Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Correction @Delectable Wine -- this is the 2013 Voluptas Eastern Hillside Cabernet. Very surprised that they had the Merlot listed but probably was because I posted the Merlot about a year or so ago. This wine opened up with some stiff competition including a 2010 Vineyard 29 Helena cab, a 2010 AltaGracia, a 2015 Montagu Cab Rutherford, and an 05 Meteor Cab. This one still did rather well. Took about an hour to get going. I was really surprised that this one didn't show more of the mushroom side, but rather showed an immense structure that could have easily spent 3 years continuing to improve. The nose was quite youthful. Blackberry jam, herb, earth. The entry was a little more toned down blackberry, lots of more youthful fruit, herb, earth, and black pepper on the finish. To me, this was in the running for th red WOTN. The white WOTN still between the Aubert, Peter Michael, and the sleeper Rodde 2011 Coombsville Chard that took everyone by surprise. This wine finished with softened tannin, and IMO even though the notes on the nose were very divergent from the AltaGracia, this wine most resembled the AltaGracia on the finish. Well done Bud! β€” 7 years ago

@Eric Shanks , @Ryan Vento , yes definitely admit the face could use some touching up. Not bad for a private label considering #boobies , so.... :) the wines are pretty stellar though.

Dyer Vineyard

Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Franc 2013

First bottling of 100% cab franc by the Dyers (I'm a fan of winemaker Dawnine who makes Meteor). This is a great bottle of wine from their minuscule vineyard on Diamond Mountain. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced this has a nice blend of fruit (strawberry) and savory with medium tannins and acid. nothing over the top or standing out too much. This is a great food wine and I can't wait to see how a few years in the cellar will improve this! β€” 9 years ago
