09' Favia Cerro Sur Red. 60% Cabernet Franc, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The CF is done in all new oak.

Raspberry & floral notes on the nose. The front of my palate I'm getting an earthiness to it, with hints of coffee. Towards the front, more to the middle & back of my palate ...Raspberries, blackberries, black licorice, spices & oak. It's such an expressive wine, but not over top! 09 is drinking great now. What's even scarier is that the 2010 is slightly better. I'm sooooo looking forward to trying the 12/13's🙂. What he does with blending CF 😘.

I'm a very big fan of Andy Ericksons and his collection of wines. Is it just me… has his collection of wines gotten considerably better over the years?!? Can't imagine not receiving these gems several times a year. Hoping he's coming out with a Chardonnay in the upcoming years. (It might just be rumors) I'll cross my fingers anyway.

09' Cerro Sur is a hard wine to come by. Andy Erickson's Cabernet Franc blends are simply some of the best produced in California.
2 hour decanting. The complexity is fantastic from mid-palate onward. I'm getting pronounced spicy cedar, licorice-cherry, smooth chocolate & oak. Very light espresso on the back of the palate. This wine builds to a crescendo… longing for another glass. I don't know if another year in the bottle will help? Thinking 6-10 years.

Duuude. This wine doesn't mess around. Although a 2009, this one drank as if it was a 2013. This wine is right in the wheelhouse, and was one of the two wines in contention for the WOTN for me. I was getting flowers, blackberry, dark chocolate and almost a caramel note through this one. The wine was dense, full bodied, and finished still with some stiff tannin. Although I believe the 2012-2019 CT drinking window is accurate, I believe this one will hold much longer than 2019 on a whole. I feel as if this wine will go through 2025, and I really expect it to develop perhaps a bit in the bottle still for another 1-2 years. I loved the dark chocolate note to this wine. Always a treat to enjoy an Erickson wine! Thanks to @Shay Aldriedge for opening this guy!
