Bricco Boschis Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

From last week. Terrific barolo that went great with linguini and a homemade tomato sauce with waygu meatballs. Yum. — 8 days ago

Les Fous Alsace Gewurztraminer

Pale yellow color. Intensely fruity aroma. Then dry and zesty on the palate. Peaches, pears, and lemon zest. And then a long finish of wet gravel and slate. This is actually the Les collines blend of Gewurztraminer, Riesling, and Pinot Blanc. Had it with spiced chicken meatballs and it went well. — a month ago

Superior fruit for an Italian wine. Have never had this wine before and it is a mind blower. Incredible fresh fruit; had with elk meatballs and spaghetti. Awesome combination. — 5 days ago

Fratelli Grasso

Matiné Barbera d'Alba 2014

Great wine for the price. Silky smooth with an earthy, oaky smell. Hints of chocolate. Drinks like a full bodied pinot. $17 at Highland and drank with spaghetti and meatballs — 18 days ago

Rosso Grande Alberone Garda Red Blend

Well, Me and my husband have had the Covid this past week. We are very blessed that our symptoms were mild. But since I did lose my taste and smell I wanted to wait to try something nice to have with spaghetti and meatballs tonight. I did have some wine earlier in the week but it was a go to wine that I was already familiar with. I think I’ve rated this wine previously. It’s very smooth and very fruit forward, a nice one to start out with again. I know that Covid is very serious and I thank all health care workers and first responders for their tireless dedication to their profession. And I pray for the families who have lost loved ones to this virus. — 25 days ago

Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese Blend 2014

2014. I had plans on cooking a little bit fancier meal for this Valentine’s Day, but we were iced in, so it ended up being rigatoni with homemade meatballs and a wine from one of my favorite Sicilian producers. Their vineyard designated wines are more complex, but this wine is always great to have in the cellar. ❤️ — 13 days ago

Infanticide! Needs several more years. Lot of dark notes - black cherry and leather. Perfect for meatballs in dead of winter. — a month ago

Fontalloro Toscana Sangiovese 2004

Another mystery wine I don’t recall buying..glad I did. So hard not to groove on aged Sangiovese from a very good producer. Soft, silken, smooth and remarkably dark and concentrated at age 16. Home-made pasta, meatballs, and sausage and playoff football... doesn’t get much better. The wine displays beautiful classic notes of berry, sun-dried tomato, and some dirt. But marvelous match with the acidity of tomato sauce with pork and basil. Used to always tell buyers to stick to the two “f’s” when it comes to everyday reliable Tuscan red. — 2 months ago
