2020 vintage. MV Shiraz. MV stands for both Mc Laren Vale and Multiple Vineyards, as this is a 100% Shiraz blend from 4 of the 6 biodynamically farmed Paxton estates. All parcels were vinified seperately, aged in French oak and blended prior to bottling. Intense perfume of blackberries and subtle spices with a hint of eucalyptus. Fresh, energetic and balanced with very good spicy length. Abv. 14%. — 3 years ago
The name is leading. Or is it just accurate? A sniff of it made me think “this is trouble” in the way I think “it must be pheromones” when I find someone who seems like a bad romance to be irresistible; I’m gonna drink them up all the same. On the palate it’s rich upscale chocolate covered cherries—are they trash? Or are they just delicious? I dunno this also made me think “off-dry Mc Donald’s vanilla milkshake” which if that could exist I don’t care if there’s a bit of trash to it it’s delicious. — 3 years ago
This wine has a perfect balance of oak and sharpness. — 6 years ago
Smoky with brief notes from me. Not as peaty as you would expect from the western isles. Had a tour of this distillery some years ago on the Isle of Skye which is the spiritual home of the Clan Donald ie McDonald. Probably prefer the peaty styles of Lagavulin and Laphroig. — 2 years ago

Wonderful ripe and sublime zin blend. Some cigar ash and dried spice in the background. Would be a good intro wine for people venturing into different isles of the store — 7 years ago

The 2020 Rosso MunJebel MC opens with dark floral tones and a mix of dusty roses, ash and dried black cherries. Silky and serene, this stands out for its vibrant red berry fruits and hints of sour citrus, becoming quite spicy toward the close. The MC leaves a pleasantly tart sensation, showing a forgivable bit of heat as a sensation of tart cranberry slowly fades. The MC hails from the Monte Colla vineyard at 780 to 800 meters in elevation. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024)
