The 2015 Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie is simply stunning, erupting from the glass with a burst of crushed black cherries, cloves, blood orange and hints of dusty earth. This is soft-textured, nearly fleshy in feel, with a core of tart red berry fruits offset by sour citrus as rosy inner florals form toward the close. It finishes with staining length and concentration, just lightly structured, leaving a sensation of hard red candies to fade. This is a vibrant vintage of Vigne Vecchie, but it possesses the balance for further evolution. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024)

D’elezione vecchie vigne, top 5 bottles on the list I’ve been meaning to taste. Very surprising and not disappointing! Resembling Beaujolais Cru much more than any Italian wine (color aside) it starts dominated by fresh herbal tones, minty, zesty, hidden under a thin layer of natural funk. The palate is dominated by bright acidity, turned earth, perhaps small berries, very light and fine tannins. Still shy and quite elegant. I wish I could say I’d spend $160 on it, but still awesome to taste a piece of winemaking history — 4 years ago
