Ok ok ok…was the response our bodies gave as we forced them out of a comfy bed on a snowy day, watching playoff football. All to our amazing, self-indulging pampering of a date night at our favorite dinner spot. And with a date the looks as beautiful as she did when we couldn’t afford a splurge dinner such as this. #blackdontcrack Now in the the wine. A new gem, subbing in for the Lewis Mason we were hoping for. Very nice alternative. Smooth, slightly velvety, not so much tannins on the front. Also, while not experiencing a big Napa smell on the entry notes, still a very nice, calm and fruit forward cab. — 6 months ago
Nose has crushed blackberries, wet-old leather, fermented plum, moist wood charcoal, over-ripe blackcurrant, wet-old clay pot, damp mason sand, dried blueberries, all this yet fresh & vibrant! (+9.6 on the nose alone)
Palate has blackberry jam, blueberry compote, dried cherry, wet-charred wood, dried blackcurrant, muddy garden soil, ripe plum, dried plum with fine tannins, likely drinking at perfection.
From vines which were 115 years old at the harvest of this vintage; tonight we're tasting fruit with 137 years of life experience.
Cork pulled for slow oxidation 28H, then double-decant for service. Perfect, Audouze Method is the best way to respect older bottles.
Paired to a long/slow braise of local lamb shanks (Pigasso Farm, Copake, NY), 7H, nestled over homemade mashed potatoes. We're so happy! 🤤😋 — 3 months ago
Refreshingly crisp and light — 6 months ago
Nose has crushed blackberries, dehydrated blueberries, violets, moist mason sand, new leather, ripe plum with a touch of VA.
Palate has ripe blackberry, ripe blueberry, dried plum, stemmy notes, dry earth, portobello mushroom, faint vanilla with light tannins.
I'm adoring the nose, but the palate is coming up a little short on the richness I might have expected. A very solid wine for ~$14!

The new vintage of Ryan Pease’s flagship white, this is off-scale good. Anthony Yount of Denner/Kinero/Royal Nonesuch told me he thinks Ryan’s ugni blanc is one of if not the best white in Paso…and I’m inclined to agree. Just fantastic! — 3 months ago
