2024/8/27. Merlin’s Cras is known (or at least noted by Jasper Morris) as being long-lived, and I’ve enjoyed bottles at 10 years. (I’d like to try older vintages…) But this is lovely now as well - perhaps it’s the vintage, but there’s a focus reminiscent of Chablis paired with Southern richness. Cool lemon, stone and custard on the nose, acid, mineral and fruity body in balance on the palate. — 4 months ago
@Delectable Wine - This is not a “white blend”; it’s Chardonnay.
This is high-level Macon. Nose has wonderful fruit with notes of apple, pear, and even peach, drizzled over stones plucked from a cool mountain stream. How’s that for imagery, huh? Also a very subtle toasty, buttery note that suggests barrel fermentation. I have no idea whether it is or not (probably not), but it is what it is. In the mouth the balance is very nice, with acids, stony minerals, and a bit of pure stone fruit in equal measure. Love this. — 6 months ago
Brilliant yellow-gold color. Aromas of pineapple, mango, apple and vanilla. Bright yellow delicious apple leads the palate along with hints of honey and savory spices. Nice mouthfeel and some noticeable vanilla on the medium-long finish. Texture is slightly creamy/syrupy and there is some noticeable RS. — 9 months ago
Nose: elegant. Complex. White and yellow flowers.
Palate: elegant. Elegantly rich. Juicy. Not super dense. Mineral.
Finish: long. — 4 months ago
The Mâcon-Vergisson, Cuvée Antonine Lachaize is a distinctive Chardonnay sourced with grapes from less than 6 miles from Mâcon, sharing and facing same terroir of the famous domaine “Roche de Salutré, it provides an authentic baked pear aromas, well-balanced on the mid-range palate with some yellow apples taste and a very soft toasted notes. Barely any cream or butter-like mouthfeel, and stays on the lighter side, not lingering finish. — 5 months ago

2024/9. While it doesn’t quite have the scale or depth of the more prestigious appellations, all the elements are here - lemon confit, cream, stone, a little toast — 3 months ago
