The Mâcon-Vergisson, Cuvée Antonine Lachaize is a distinctive Chardonnay sourced with grapes from less than 6 miles from Mâcon, sharing and facing same terroir of the famous domaine “Roche de Salutré, it provides an authentic baked pear aromas, well-balanced on the mid-range palate with some yellow apples taste and a very soft toasted notes. Barely any cream or butter-like mouthfeel, and stays on the lighter side, not lingering finish. — 2 years ago
2022/5/28 with tai sashimi 2 ways, tomato in dashi, chicken and new onion in pea and white miso soup, etc. There may be some bias since I’ve been looking for bottles like this since being reminded of how good classicist white Burgundy is with Kyoto food, but this really did it, and even more so considering the price. Savory, salty minerals, butter and citrus, the requisite oak, some honey from maturity - it all just works. — 4 years ago

Belle fraîcheur, c’est citronné, avec un peu de gras, bel équilibre ça descend tout seul — 7 years ago
Apple, pear, peach pit, some pineapple, blossoms. Full body, no taste of oak, perhaps aged on lees. Rich with a good finish. — 7 years ago
Another winner from what has become one of my favorite Maconnais growers. Nose has pure, peachy, ripe appley fruit together with crushed wet limestone. Fairly deeply flavored, with surprisingly nice acids for such a hot year and good mineral tension in the finish. The balance on this is so nice. — 9 months ago
@Delectable Wine - This is not a “white blend”; it’s Chardonnay.
This is high-level Macon. Nose has wonderful fruit with notes of apple, pear, and even peach, drizzled over stones plucked from a cool mountain stream. How’s that for imagery, huh? Also a very subtle toasty, buttery note that suggests barrel fermentation. I have no idea whether it is or not (probably not), but it is what it is. In the mouth the balance is very nice, with acids, stony minerals, and a bit of pure stone fruit in equal measure. Love this. — 2 years ago
Brilliant yellow-gold color. Aromas of pineapple, mango, apple and vanilla. Bright yellow delicious apple leads the palate along with hints of honey and savory spices. Nice mouthfeel and some noticeable vanilla on the medium-long finish. Texture is slightly creamy/syrupy and there is some noticeable RS. — 2 years ago
Iron fist with a velvet glove. Delicate flavors of lemon peel and crushed stones, with lanolin texture, fullish body, refreshing freshness, and long finish. — 5 years ago
Excellent wine for an unexpected spring day in February. — 7 years ago
A very palatable Chardonnay sourced from a vineyard located in Vergisson, which faces the prominent “Roche de Solutré” within <6 miles from Macôn. It displays all about balance between acidity and creaminess, white florals on the nose, some appealing citrusy notes, yet an inviting minerality provides a great balance as soon the wine navigates through your palate. Overly clean with some distant Quincy notes as well. It is a splendid casual sipper! — a year ago

The 2019 Mâcon La Roche Vineuse Vieilles Vignes is completely barrel fermented; however, since ‘03 Merlin has utilised less new oak, currently using around 10-15%. The 2019 is well-defined on the nose with hints of white flowers and orange blossom. The palate is quite spicy and peppery, a powerful Mâcon with just a light touch of honey towards the finish. Very fine. (Neal Martin, Vinous, November 2021)

White Burgundy (Chardonnay) with notes of pear and flowers (Roche), at Coastal Alchemist wine bar, Ogunquit, ME, at Firestone in Ft. Myers, FL, and at the Nonantum Resort, Kennebunkport, ME — 7 years ago
Crisp and steely minerality, acidity, what you expect from a nice #bourgogneblanc , but the unexpected delight is the fruit forward touch of sweetness. — 8 years ago

Rich aromatics of lemon cake and a broad, gras texture. Elegant and complex, floating across the mid-palate before a blizzard of minerality takes over. Mouthwatering, deep, with beautiful inner-mouth perfume. From 50-year-old vines. — 10 days ago
