Light-to-medium body; near-perfect acidity that goes beautifully with stuffed portobello mushrooms (spinach & ricotta stuffing). Nice, firm tannins and ripe cherries with anise, with the oak coming through at the end. A little earthy in a pleasant way pairs nicely with mushrooms. Would be GORGEOUS with mushroom risotto and asparagus. I imagine it would be beautiful with red meat, too. #pairwithfood — 8 months ago

Enjoyed a single glass after a lovely dinner. The 2001 appears a deep amber color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of apricot marmalade, candied nuts, burnt molasses, espresso, and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and bitter but ever so lovely. Could a wine like this live forever? One of those questions that keeps me up at night. — 8 months ago

Lopez Heredia rose lovers alert: a garnacha/Tempranillo blend from the husband of one of the Lopez daughters. More perky & fresh than its Lopez ancestor but still layered with tangerine peel, grapefruit pith, & some Unami. Great concentration & has a more new penny copper color. For about 30$ I’ll take it, especially since Lopez rose fetches 100$. — 4 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2012 Riserva pours a pale garnet with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherry, red flowers, black tea, dried orange peel, dried herbs and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. Delicious, crushable and a smart pairing with simple pasta with red sauce. Drink now through 2032+ — 5 months ago
