Lazy Bones

Lazy Susan Ranch

The Vineyardist Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

An excellent wine. I bought this a long time ago after visiting the winery (which was spectacular). Fabulous bouquet, black currants, raspberry jam, plum, and spices. Pop and pour. Glad I have a couple of more bottles. — 2 months ago

Descendientes de José Palacios

Pétalos Bierzo Mencía 2020

Aint this an unexpected pretty thing.

Chewy, dense, purple goop - fudgey with syrah like outlines -mencia bones - mix of reds and whites making up remaining 8%.

Lavender, pepper, tar, and blackberry.

Slurp.

Rivers-Marie

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2013

Alder Yarrow
9.0

After our little vacation (what a pleasure and luxury after the year we’ve all had) it’s back to home cooking and drinking, and this bottle was sitting aside in the cellar because I was too lazy to reshelve it after pulling it out a few weeks ago and not getting around to drinking it. It smells of dusty dried sage and other herbs with a touch of cedar and red fruits beneath. Exceedingly silky, with dashi and miso notes mixing with raspberry and dried herbs that have this lovely aromatic sweetness that lingers with the herbs in the finish. Very pretty. — 6 years ago

Cristal Brut Champagne 1979

Paler colour than the 76 , medium old gold colour . Quite a lot of bubbles still. This shows much more linear and mineral , quite chalky on the nose and palate but has enough fresh lemon tinged fruits to cover the bones . This is fresher and younger on the palate than the 76 . Long more focused on the finish, higher acidity . This is perfect now and over the next 5-10 years I would imagine . Very much alive and vivid for a Champagne of this age. — 3 years ago

Dominus Estate

Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2000

Needs time and air, lots of air! The colour is deep garnet. The smell is like a lazy summer forest buried under ripe berries. In the mouth some meat and Unamipaste, better performance then the 1999. — 6 years ago

Bodega Catena Zapata

White Bones Adrianna Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

whoa! wild, totally unexpected nose. never smelled a chard like this. Menthol, eucalyptus, mint. Andes mint. high elevation, select rows from a single vineyard. Unlike any other chardonnay. Flipping beautiful. High acid, lemony citrus and mineral on palate. the mint is fascinating- almost overwhelming. decanting would prolly help. 10 just because it’s so interesting, so delicious. but it is not identifiable as Chardonnay. — 2 years ago

Château de Pressac

St. Émilion Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2021

2020 vintage. Another great effort from this Château. Already easy drinking. A lot of sweet fruit, smooth with a nice ripe tannic bite, freshness and good length. Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 16%, Cabernet Sauvignon 9%, Carmenère 2% and Noir de Pressac (aka Malbec) 2%. Abv. 14,5%. Hubert de Boüard consults.Don't know if it will make old bones ( a 2008 recently tasted was totally over the hill). — 4 years ago

Domaine Corsin

Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay 2018

More balanced and precise than the ‘17. Apple-blossom, baked bones...along with a concentration and complexity that suggests Pouilly-Fuissé way more than Mâcon. — 7 years ago
