Vintage 2018 | what a difference a day makes… the weather… the food… the company… perhaps this is my last bottle, thought I needed to drink up… but today paired with a mussel potato salad this wine is vibrant… smell of lychees, citrus and some vanilla. Tastes well, juicy. So happy… my wife and I drank the bottle -except a glass that went with the mussels - all at once. — 10 months ago

Great job zen master RIP — 5 years ago
Very serene zen nose. Mineral. Some mid-season cherry fruit. After 10 minutes the fruit aromatically erupts like a volcano. Strawberry and watermelon. Wow. Really great. Classic Beaune Prévoles tweed jacket as well. Just wafting aromas. Palate has ungodly 2018 fruit. Stunning purity and mouthfeel. Balance is magical. Refined and superbly elegant. Velvety tannins and very chewy. Long finish with a hint of rusticity. Pure. Lovely. — 6 years ago

An unforgettable bottle to crown our Taiwan trip. Gerard Potel’s 96’ Jarollières was just emotional and a testament to his mastery - he simply doesn’t miss. My first encounter with this Pommard vineyard revealed a wine less filigreed than Potel’s Volnay bottlings, leaning into darker, earthier tones, yet still imbued with his genius: crystalline purity and weightless intensity.
The nose unfolded sweet dark and red fruits, black tea, dried roses, violets, and a whisper of nutmeg and other spices. On the palate, it had plush, silky textures and extraordinary minerality - perhaps the most mineral-driven Potel I’ve encountered. With air, it deepened and felt livelier, revealing sweet red cherries, smoky tar, and irony minerality intertwined with earthy, tea-like nuances. Zen-like really, as it danced between sweetness and mineral precision, delivering a finish as haunting as it was beautiful. Pure Potel magic. — 2 years ago
This is a really good Zen. It has just the right touch of sing to it — 5 years ago
The one and only. One of the best values in all of German wine. Stunning nose. Smells as deep as a GG. Just insane. The aromas of the fruit are so clean and so precise. Just amazing. Peach skin, peach flesh, apricot, nougat, caramel aromas show this is baby Hergott. It’s so precise and so clean but also nuanced and deep. Just a stunning nose. Glorious spice and deep deep minerals. Airy. So so killer. Blind I’d say GG. Wow. I love this wine. So so salty in 2019! U la la! Juicy and so concentrated but elegant and energetic. Sappy peach and apricot fruits on the finish. But also laser like, rapier like minerality. Amazingly pure and deep. So balanced and serene. A zen like experience. Long finish that alternates between fruit, saline and gorgeous mineral. Amazing mouthfeel and purity. Just a stunning Molsheim. Clean finish that just echoes and slowly dissipates. So beautiful.
After some air wow. Herbs on the nose. Hit of honey and the minerals start to waft. Stunning balance and freshness and complex spice and ridiculous fruit on the finish. This is amazing. — 6 years ago

This was all part of our Sake Day 2025 experience. We only tasted 60ish sakes out of an estimated 450, so a small fraction of what was available. While I attempted to rinse the glass with water and stay hydrated it’s difficult to fairly rate in this environment and I use it solely as a time to try a wide variety and interact with the brands. Astoundingly zen like, invariant in the mouth over a long dinner with a caramel nose and endlessly complex the wine is certainly memorable. — 5 years ago

A nice well rounded Zen. Didn't drink it with meat, just chocolate and it paired well. — 6 years ago
