La Chaux Côtes du Jura Chardonnay 2015

La Chaux is a Cerebral ice bath. A beautiful complex thinker.

Sniff this thing. Goes deep. Reminds you that there are three dimensions, four dimensions, maybe other dimensions?

Spiritually oxidized, but also bright and yellow in its Chardonnay birth suit.

Smells like candied lemondrop, sweet basil, and volatile Vietnamese cinnamon. Tastes like browned apples and sour starfruit.

Château-Chalon Savagnin 2009

Bluuuurb. Mleghendbaba Translation: vague recollection of this being an off dry dessert wine. Orange color. Served with the cheese plate that I recall licking clean. LOL — 18 days ago

Domaine de la Borde

Arbois Pupillin Trousseau sous la Roche

Deep ruby red color showing slightly orange shades already
Explosive nose of wild fruits, liquorice, , menthol, verveine and bouquet garni, tempered by strawberry-like sweet and tangy mouthfeel. Savory finish held by freshness and mild tannins.

Côtes du Jura Poulsard Blend 2018

Decided to give this one another go since I liked it so much last time. Didn’t detect as much cooking oil viscosity as last time but it’s still quite rich. Stimulating bouquet with layered scents of mixed red and black fruit (red cherry & plum, blackberry, fresh bramble), strong savory notes of aged leather, mushroom, game, and barnyard-y smells, spicy oak notes of cloves, cedar, and smoke… and I think I detect some anise seed and sandalwood? On the palate more red n black fruit together including red cherry, blackberry, and blueberry, notable black pepper lingering with smoothed out but grippy tannins on a medium finish. This would probably age well; still a fantastic value for a Friday night from Jura the Underdog — 17 days ago

"La Rouge" Poulsard Arbois 2018

Light in color and body with notes of overripe red cherry, dark fruit, herbs, and dead leaves. Mellow tannins and M/M- acidity. A versatile wine for pairing with food or drinking on its own. Served with a slight chill. Purchased at Suburban Wines in Yorktown Heights, NY. — 7 days ago

Cuvée du Professeur Sous-Roche Côtes du Jura Savagnin

Distinctive, toasty, nutty oxidative style with struck match and mineral rock for days. Hint of citrus for good measure. Excellent. — 4 days ago

Arbois Trousseau 2018

Tasty! Light weight, but with all of the characteristics of a heftier weight: smoke, burnt wood, artichokes... Did well with peppers and chicken, but I’d guess this would be equally golden with seared scallops... Yum. — 3 days ago
