Melka

Métisse Jumping Goat Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Excellent wine

Comes out with a lot of spice and depth out of the bottle and a bit tannic.

With some air time - we just did glass and open bottle - it mellowed and was excellent paired with steak and potatoes.

Cayuse Vineyards

Bionic Frog Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2014

Jumping back into the pond with the Cayuse Bionic Frog!

1 hour decant. A marvelous deep dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: Inviting nose of dark fruit, herbaceous, smoked meat, slight "Cayuse funk"(luv it), chocolate espresso, bacon fat. Taste: powerful, balanced, savory wine with dark cherry, raspberry, earth, pepper, gamey, minerals, orange peel, and a nice medium plus finish. YUM!!!

Billecart-Salmon

Brut Rosé Champagne Chardonnay Blend

It’s 1/2 bottle n/v Billecart evening.

This is a more appropriate color of rose for the Rosé color of this champagne.

My go to n/v Rosé Champange for a number of reasons…quality & 1/2 bottle availability are right up there.

Blood orange, black cherries, Rainer cherries, lean strawberries, pomegranate juice, hints of raw rhubarb, grainy, grippy, sharp chalkiness, crunchy volcanics, limestone, sea fossils, baguette crust, deep white spice, orange lilies, peach roses, excellent, lively acidity with a rich, well balanced smart finish that starts clean, ripe fruits falling onto perfect minerality.

Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2002

2005 Wine Spectator Wine of the Year.

1 hour decant(lots of fine /cloudy sediment). A captivating still dark garnet with just a touch of bricking. On the nose: jumping from the glass are beautiful notes of ripe cherry, floral, sweet vanilla oak, cigar, licorice, and mint. Taste: A smooth, creamy, balanced wine with black cherry, wet earth, cedar, and a plumy mocha long finish. YUM!!! Not opulent, just a well made Cali cab with more years to go.

Happy New Year all! 🍾🥂

This 07 outshines/performs the overall vintage.

Outstanding mousse & lively acidity. Lime zest, lemon pulp in juice, grapefruit w/ pith, orange citrus blend with peel, kiwi, tropical melons, white nectarines, excellent white spice, baguette crust, gritty white chalk, dry, crushed limestone bits, grey volcanics, oyster shells, saline/sea spray, light tones of fresh herbs, yellow lilies, spring flowers with greens, excellent acidity, well; structured, balanced, knitted, beautiful finish that is even and lands on minerality & spice.

Bonneau du Martray

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 1986

Great color in the decanter... medium gold with an enticing perfume. Notes of sweet Meyer lemon, apricot, gravel stone, tan clay, some mint, a little ginger and some sweet marzipan. Has an exotic and slightly musty (desirable) funk. Huge weight with great fruit and solid acidity in the mouth. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Awesome juice! If you Google “why should I age white burgundy?”, an image of this 35 year old bottle should be shown... — 5 years ago

It’s been great for decades. A bit of botrytis makes it exotic. I’ve got just one left.
