So where did you get your water before this?Glory is this wine. Just one of the best wines in Burgundy now. After the 22 I had large expectations and this surpassed them. Nose is just bananas. Not literal bananas. The other type of bananas. The most complex cherry diaspora. Sour, mid season, late season and black. Spice galore and florals up the wazoo. Earth, limestone, dead leaves, living leaves and wet leaves. The nose is a 9.8 on the pop and pour. Just insane. Wild mint. What stands out the most is the layering and the clarity. Also the breadth. Wow that inner mouth perfume and endless, boundless energy that has the same fruit energy as La Tache. What I mean by that is this wine, yes can be about minerals as CDC is rocky, but man the fruit in 22 and now 23 is just in another register. Sappy, poised and clear as the sky is blue on a cloudless day. Yes the tannins are firm but you know with air they will melt into the fruit. The nobility of this site never fails to blow me away. Unreal concentration and density and just insane length. The tannins are velvety, sweet and intense but so so high class. Nose has so much florality, spice and red cherry fruit one cannot believe it. This is just insane. It’s almost a perfect wine. The balance is just beyond and the structure is incredible. This is a 50 year CDC. What a finish. Let’s see where this goes. After an hour the nose is remarkable. So deep, so nuanced, so spicy, so floral. Provocative. Palate is silky, sweet and so dense. Pumps the fruit out like an old set of Wilson Puppies. Unreal balance and purity. But this is built like a brick house. Let’s see where this goes. Will unfurl more but it’s a slow one! The concentration and tiny berry fruit intensity is off the charts. Now after 17 hours open its nose is full blown complex and flat out stunning. The cherry trifecta of sour/mid season and black. Mint and bramble plus wonderful and gorgeous sous bois. Stoney as well. All velvety bramble and such elegant and ripe tannin. A wave. Stunning inner mouth aromas, tiny berry fruit intensity and stunning purity. This seems like it’s more classic than the 22. Even on day 3 this is stunning. Lost nothing. — a year ago
The 2014 Red Wine Reserve bursts from the glass with a mentholated freshness as dusty rose and musky black cherries form its perfumed bouquet. This is deeply textural and plush on the palate, with saline minerals and brisk acidity adding tension as pretty inner florals form toward the close. The 2014 finishes energetically, buzzing with residual tension, as sour cherries and licorice tones slowly fade. Aromatically, the 2014 is beginning to develop, but it still requires some patience to truly soften. (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2023)

Blackberry, blackberry coulis, dark cherry, intense florals. Violets. So gorgeous. Stunning nose. 9.7 nose. So fresh and elegant with terrific acidity. So complex and engaging. Super young but man oh man what potential. Super complex finish. Inner mouth aromas. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Really engaging mid palate. Spicey, structured and fresh. So so long. Acid is on point. Wait 5-7 years. Really opens up on day 2. Creamy mid palate but still so much tension. Beautiful finesse. Best wine Evan has ever made. Almost 9.7. Nose is so complex with unreal forest/herbal/spice elements. Gorgeous Black cherry. So vivid. Palate is so focused and rich get tempered and restrained. Extraordinary fruit quality. This is a 9.7. — 3 years ago
Man she is a great winemaker.
Nose is just classic rheinhessen Riesling. Intense Lemon flower extract. Such finely aerated minerals. So good. So precise. Inner mouth aromatics are lemon flower, perfect minerals. So well made.
Palate is mineral. Some citrus. Elegantly Dense. Hint of integrated richness. Meyer lemon.
Gorgeous rich Meyer lemon finish.
For $30ish this is a ridiculous value. Ridiculous. It’s so well made and so good.

The 2020 Soave Classico wafts up with enticing notes of kiwi and sour melon contrasted by savory herbs. It’s deeply textural and round in feel, with a tart interplay of lemon and lime that’s nicely offset by a pleasant inner sweetness. There’s wonderful harmony here, as the 2020 tapers off with green botanicals and a flourish of minerality. This “entry-level” Soave Classico from Pieropan punches well above its price point. Since Pieropan makes three different bottlings, one from each tank, of their Soave, I thought it prudent to add the lot number for reference. (Lot# 26.10.21) (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2022)

Just a brilliant brilliant wine. I cannot believe the value here. Nose is just sick. Deep berry, raspberry, cherry, sour cherry, blueberry, woodshop shavings, violets and other florals and so much more. This has so much stuffing it’s crazy. Extraordinary palate that is at once dense and at once nimble. Unreal sweet fruit and unreal, albeit youthful fruit and astonishing length. Crazy intense and brilliant inner mouth aromas and such complexity. Structure to burn and let’s see where we are in a few hours. Wow. — 10 months ago
Wow. This is one hell of a Taillepieds. Nose is deep, dark black cherry fruit with twizzler, mid season cherry with pitch perfect clarity. Taillepieds always brings the drama and this goes to 11. Dark roses, Dried and fresh. So complex and so darn dramatic, Gorgeous roundness to the nose. Just insane. 9.8 nose. Some wood spice, but more like shavings from 7th grade woodshop. Wow. That palate is just insane. It’s got the cherry fruit, sour, dark, mid season, dark red all on a chord progression and all at the same time. Cherry fruit, everything, everywhere, all at once. Unreal internal aromatic and it has a decadence but outlined by this tart cherry fruit that circles opulent black cherry fruit. Just stunning. More open than the Clos des Chenes. A genius wine. Equal to CDC in 2023. Wow this nose goes hard as air gets into it. My god this is hedonistic but also fresh and energetic like 2008 or 1996 but with the fruit of 2019. This is absolutely a showstopper. Gorgeous tannins. So well crafted. The purity is the star here as is the transparency. The nose goes hard after an hour. It’s hard to describe as it’s got a lot of “non wine” aroma. 9.8 nose. Heavenly. Super sweet and silky now. Gorgeous fruit and opulence. What a finish. Unreal blackberry and black cherry inner mouth aromas an hour in. So structured and young but just incredible. After a day this is just stunning. Deep, dramatic and juicy. Wonderful structure and sexy black cherry fruit. Silky as silky can be. — a year ago
Dense dark crimson - almost black in colour. Red and black fruits, choc/mocha; and wild mint. An inner core of strength, concentration and intensity. The following night - Blackberry, rich, ripe fruits. A powerful 389 which will live for decades. My first of 11. Destined for greatness. 100% American Oak. 51% Cabernet Sauvignon; 49% Shiraz. — a year ago
The 2021 Pinot Grigio Dessimis lifts from the glass with exotic florals, sweet spices and peach. This opens with a burst of inner sweetness, complicated by zesty acidity and mineral tones, as a vivid note of ripe pear evolves on the palate. This finishes classically dry and slightly grippy, leaving nuances of white strawberry and rosy inner florals to linger. The 2021 is a more mellow edition of Dessimis, yet enjoyable all the same. Wow what a nose. Stunning aromas that are so deep with the classic violets and spice. Gorgeous aromas and framed by the classic Walter sweet wood. Insane nose. Tree bark. Decadent. So juicy and sweet. Super concentrated and sapid but also elegant and haunting. Ethereal. Inner mouth aromas. Stunning and fresh. Opulent. Controlled opulence. — 4 years ago
Always one of the most elegant 1er Crus in Volnay. Nose is a bit reticent as we start off with light cherry and some herbals plus some sweet black cherry fruit. Also some reduction which will blow off. Lovely bramble desiccated leaves and super wet earth and soil tones. What a palate. Teeming with energy and freshness. Wow great acidity here and tremendous fruit. Terrific inner mouth aromas and stunning sapidity. So elegant and structured with incredibly deep fruit. What length and seriousness! This is the first 2020 i’ve tasted that needs 3-5 years in the cellar. Amazing sweet tannins and they are so finely knit like a cashmere sweater. This is brilliant! I’ll be back as it opens. This got so complex and expansive with air. Stunning depth and purity. Really incredible complexity and a vast array of flavors. — 4 years ago
Out of this world. Andi is so slept on. This is just so vibrant, rich, nimble and full of amazingly pure fruit. Just shimmers. Gorgeous length and real elite purity to the fruit. Fantastic inner mouth aromas that are confectionary and that confection echoes on the finish and then ends with pitted stone fruits and mineral. Outrageous. Nose is all mineral, red plum, rainer cherry and apricot. Just so pure. — a year ago
The great Monopole from Buffet. In some years this is neck and neck with Clos des Chenes and Taillpieds. Gorgeous nose of dried and wet leaves, deep cherry, some oolong tea, Really compelling fruit on the nose. Such clear cherry, cherry bubblegum which is so typical of Rougeotte and stunning florals. Nose is so layered and complex. Gorgeous. What a palate. That classic chord progression again if sour/mid-season and late season cherry along with unreal sweetness. The sour-sweet cherry combo in 23 is the Buffet signature. Really well worked velvety tannins and exceptional freshness and acidity. Terrific inner mouth aromas and such purity. Extremely complex already and such suave texture despite there being girth and structure as is par for the course of Rougeotte. This needs to open but I think once it does it will be equal to or surpass the Champans. Let’s see. The nose now is more feral, but sweet feral. Big cherry but the chord effect and a bit of a maceration effect. Then that Rougeotte Hubba Bubba thing. Wow this is so good. So shockingly intense like you stuck a fork in an outlet. This is better than the Champans. This has gotten so suave and explosive now. Unreal texture and sweetness plus the finish and attack just explode onto onto the palate. Nose is feral today in the best way possible. Gorgeous, sensual minerals and earth .Wow the fruit is insane. So sweet, still explosive and such insane acidity and length. Just stunning. — a year ago
I love this vineyard and Girard’s interpretation of it. Generous and enveloping nose with gorgeous mid season cherry, spice, seaweed paper, tweed jacket and macerated mid to late season cherries. Really provocative and deep aromas. Palate is classic young Fichots. A wall of tannin and gorgeous dark fruits that echoe but are currently 90% covered by tannins. So dense and chewy with just awesome inner mouth aromas and dark black and blue fruits and. sinewy, foresty vibe that is so intriguing. This wine needs air but is shaping up to be a classic Fichots. Nose opening up with dark cranberry, spice, forest floor and more. The Fichots aromatic complexity is really here in spades. I love this wine. Loosening up and getting so juicy. So pure. Really nice inner mouth aromas and terrific energy and freshness. Awesome on day 2. Nose is brambly and nuanced. Palate is out of this world. Dense and opulent fruit. So fresh. Bursting. Sweet and tart. 9.4 to 9.5 overnight. — a year ago
The 2021 Pinot Grigio wafts up, wickedly bright and floral, like a spring day with fresh grasses, lemonade and melon. It washes across the palate silky and finessed with a pretty mix of ripe orchard fruits and inner florals. The 2021 finishes fresh, with medium length and leaves behind sage hints. The 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino Cerrete wafts up with a smoky burst of camphor that blows off to reveal a pretty mix of wild strawberries, dried roses, cinnamon and peppery herbs. This is silky yet cool-toned in feel, with a pleasant twang of sour citrus up front that gives way to vivid tart cherries. It's potent and staining, but also full of energy, with vibrant acids and a mineral underpinning that both pepper yet also soothe the senses. The 2015 finishes incredibly long, with balsamic tones and exotic spices that seem to last for up to a minute. Silky tannins coat the palate at first then slowly melt away and create a sense of total inner harmony. With a few years of cellaring, I expect the 2015 Cerrete to be a total knockout. Of note, there will not be a 2013 or 2014 Cerrete. (Eric Guido, Vinous, November 2022)

Gorgeous nose. Some sweet wood initially with an unreal haunting Volnay ethereal quality. Yowza minerality and a gorgeous floral streak. Expansive and just so pretty. I love the mineral depth here. Wow. Sweet fruit, elegant and so complex with awesome purity and depth. Sweet and energetic and lovely lift. Beats 19. By a lot. Terrific inner mouth aromas and sweet, crunchy and velvety tannins. Awesome length and structure. Super mineral driven finish. This is tremendous. Let’s see what air does. The wood blows off so quickly! Just so complete. Stunning value here. Extra juicy. Real complexity here. The fruit on this is divine. — 4 years ago
The 2020 Pinot Grigio Jesera is savory and mineral in style, as crushed stone and flinty pear give way to nuances of incense. There’s a pleasant inner sweetness here, along with silky textures and cooling acidity that makes for a highly pleasurable sip, as the 2020 tapers off with medium length and spicy.
