Great zippy nose right off the bat. Bouquet of Apples, mild lime, soft round cotton notes, a little almond. Med + body, high acidity but balanced with the tangy citrus notes and good mineralogy. No lack of wet stones, almonds, pith. Med + finish. Excited to see how this develops over the next few hrs.... — 24 days ago
Welcome newcomers to Austin - Subject to Change. They introduced two levels, an entry and a still reasonably priced higher tier. Chill Pill is the crispy sour lemon drop side of Chenin Blanc for under $25. Spends a few days on skin and some time in neutral barrels so it has a back - it’s not watery. 11.2 % ABV — 7 days ago
A rich gold colour, good balance with neither sweetness nor acidity overpowering. Le Mont is my favourite cru in the range. White fruit on the palate and decent length of maybe 10+ seconds. Nice, but I did much prefer the 2018, perhaps this has closed a bit or just vintage variation. I’ll leave the rest of the case for a year or two. — 11 days ago
This time last week it was #DrinkChenin Day and we celebrated in the best way possible - with not 1, but 2 bottles of Aged Chenin Blanc from John Kosovich Wines in the Swan Valley 🙌
We already had the 2012 in the wine fridge, which I picked up on my Perth trip last year and the 2013 was from a recent order of a mixed pack of CB’s sold through the Vino Volta website.
It was one of those tastings where each time I had a swirl, I was like “I definitely prefer the 20__ vintage” 😂 So it’s safe to say both went down a treat. And I reckon both are still holding up so well that they’ll keep for longer too!
It’s a clear golden shade in the glass with melon, lemon honey and fresh minerality coming through on the nose with a sprinkling of sea salt. In the mouth it’s super smooth with notes of apples 🍎, pears 🍐 and citrus zest. I also reckon there’s some feijoa on the finish. YUM!
It’s a sunshine ☀️ gold colour in the glass. There’s that fresh minerality coming through on the nose alongside cut apples and sweet timber. In the mouth there’s fresh lime with toasted apple crumble that carries through to a nice lip-licking long finish. Delish!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! — 13 days ago
Beautiful apple cider color.
Straight up mangoes. Pineapples. An effervescence in the nose that cannot be pinpointed. Almost like the spindrift of a cresting wave colored sweet with bee pollen and honey.
Honeyed lavender, citrus peel. This is a Chenin Blanc I’d bring to the beach in the heat, toss a football around, and introduce the bros to a wine that could rival, I hate to say it, a mango white claw. I mean it’s a great picnic wine, too. Or a cheese wine. But convincing bros to drink a Chenin Blanc is a challenge I will accept any day. Now if only I could get to a beach without having to wear a face mask.
It’s a bit on the sweeter side without the bubbles to round it out, but the tropical fruit notes are killer enough to hit the 9s. — 9 days ago
Vintage 2014 | Razorsharpe Chenin Blanc with minerality. Not a wine to get acquainted with the grape, it does by no means try to charm you. But for lovers of a Chenin Blanc, it is top! Nice acidity. Pure. | A lot like @Peter van den Besselaar ’s Boudignon from last week. Happy Birthday! 🎂 — 8 days ago
